Re: Xylimelts for Dry Mouth Overnight?
For what it's worth, I thought I'd throw out a tip I learned from a singer many years ago. If you have a dry mouth you can bite on the side of your tongue for a few seconds, and it will immediately get the saliva going. Be gentle - you don't want to draw blood - just bite and hold until the saliva f...

Re: Done with APRIA!!!
My plan of attack with the DMEs was to avoid them altogether. My doc sent my prescription to a DME, but I had her recall it and send it to cpap.com. I then bought direct from cpap, and came to this forum for advice on how to get started on my own. Is this route for everyone? Absolutely not. I'm very...

Re: Need help with the settings on Airsense 10 Autoset for her
For what it's worth....... I'm close to 67 and retired six years ago after working with computers for over 40 years. Virtually all aspects of mainframes, minis and micros, including administration. Did some programming, too...COBOL, Basic, DBase/Foxbase, etc. You definitely have me beat - I only go...

Re: Need help with the settings on Airsense 10 Autoset for her
So today I got the summary report from my doctor's office. She'd received it from the sleep study place two weeks before anyone called me to let me know I have OSA. My AHI was 10.8 something (not right in front of the report right now, so that's an approximation.) The Oxygenation (probably not the r...

Re: Need help with the settings on Airsense 10 Autoset for her
How do you feel? I feel pretty good. I woke up several times because my mouth fell open and I could feel a dry mouth, but I fell right back asleep. That's pretty exciting for me, as I would often wake up and then never get back to sleep, so falling back asleep is a win. 7 hours sleep is a lot for m...

Because I have more faith in the technology of the machine than I do in my doctor.Wulfman... wrote: If your prescription says 9 cm., why wouldn't you at least TRY that pressure (to either validate or disprove the effectiveness) before experimenting with ranges?

Re: Need help with the settings on Airsense 10 Autoset for her
TangledHose and palerider - definitely do not assume I know anything at all, but in this case I had actually assumed the "for her" settings. Still not really understanding how it can be different, and thinking it's sort of a marketing gimmick, but I liked the white model with the leaves on it better...

Re: Need help with the settings on Airsense 10 Autoset for her
also, I suggest using the machine for a while before bed, just to get used to breathing with it, read a book, watch tv for an hour or two... something to get you used to the feel, without sitting there thinking about it... distract your mind Thanks, palerider, especially for the last part. I'll do ...

Need help with the settings on Airsense 10 Autoset for her
Well guess who has her first ever APAP machine? Me! Thanks to all the help I received on another thread, I'm all kitted out with the new machine and mask. (P10 Pillow mask for her). I've found my way into the settings, and would love some guidance on how to begin. I know my prescription said 9CM, an...

Re: From diagnosis to DME with no inbetween?
Woo hoo! Got a call from the doctor's office today - from an admin though, nobody medical. She said they'd faxed the script where I wanted (which I knew), and that they'd put my sleep study in the mail to me. Can't wait to see if it's the summary that some of you have mentioned, or the whole shebang...

Re: From diagnosis to DME with no inbetween?
I had my first phone call from the doctor's office last Thursday. I called them back later on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. It's Monday evening and I never got a call back from my doctor's office. (Each time I was asking for a copy of the sleep study, for the prescription, and on one occasion I as...

Re: From diagnosis to DME with no inbetween?
It was an in-lab study. When I went to bed the technician said she'd come in around 1am and put a mask on me if she thought it would help, and that's exactly what happened. I haven't seen the results yet though.Morbius wrote:Did you have an in-lab study or a take-home test?PollyCT wrote:I have United Healthcare...

Re: From diagnosis to DME with no inbetween?
Hello Polly: "Well what machine are you selling me?" The phone agent said, lets look at the order.... She told me it said auto-titrating ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset. I about fell out of my chair! Well holy cow!!! I'm kind of speechless! It would be awesome if it went that way for me too! Given that ...
