Re: [Poll] and Seeking advice on Swift FX and AirFit P10

I'm currently a mostly happy P10 user. I used the Nuance Pro for my first 6 months and loved how comfortable the gel pillow was against my nostrils. However, I was able to get a P10 at a discount and started experimenting with that -- and have now used it longer than the Nuance. I miss the soft comf...

Re: Home Remedies During CPAP Downtime

Sleeping in a chair or something else that keeps you upright is my recommended solution as well. I had a horrible time getting my machine initially -- Sleep study was in November 2014 and for various reasons, it was January 2015 before I got my first machine. I now have that machine plus a back up i...

Re: Hose management devices: worthwhile or worthless?

Everyone is different. For me: * A hose management device is essential as it keeps the hose out of my way when I flip and shift during the night. I now use Hose Buddy, but previously used a cheaper folding travel one * A hose cover is also essential for me, but it's more about eliminating the noise ...

Re: Panic at thought of CPAP.

I am a Sleep Apnea patient who is also being treated for General Anxiety Disorder. For me the anxiety issues go hand in hand with the sleep apnea, and may even have emerged because of the "flight or fight" response to apnea events. During my second sleep study (titeration) after my severe sleep apne...

It's not the length of your hose ... it's the magic of sleep and low AHI it produces~!

Re: Sores & blisters from AirFit P10 For Her Nasal Pillow Mask

I use to use the Nuance Pro which is softer on the nose and doesn't go in as far. I've had to go back to it a couple of times when the P10 irritated my nose. It's worth trying other masks and having a different one around as an alternative when your primary mask isn't working for you temporarily.

Re: Poll: How many masks do you use?

I currently have four ... P10 is my current goto mask ... it's stays on without a lot of hassle Nuance Pro was my prior goto mask, now I use it when the P10 irritates my nose ... it's more comfortable than the P10, but won't stay in place as easily. I have a fabric Circadiance Elan I use when I don'...

No "foes" here, just advisers. Some are just better at it than others.

Re: Distilled Water vs Boiled Water - Humidifier

I was told by the RT at the DME I could use distilled or boiled water. Once I saw I could get a gallon of distilled water for about a dollar and it lasts over two weeks -- kinda made the decision easy. I'd much rather spend the dollar rather than spend the time. Since this discussion keeps coming up...

Re: Dme insanely overpriced

My DME acted too slow for me to even care about what they charge. I get most of my supplies at a grey market discount through eBay. I've also used CPAP.com with happy results. If I had waited for my DME, I'd have been using the same nasal pillow for 3 months -- and a mask with severely compromised v...

Re: CPAP and Nasal Congestion

I had chronically irritated sinuses before CPAP. I feel that using nasal pillow masks actually helped clear my sinues -- along with Nasonex, Nasal Spray, and a bit of determination to make CPAP work.

Re: Poll: How Old Are CPAP Users?

As a 50 yr old digital marketer -- just wanted to mention the survey is skewed as much by patterns of who uses forums for information vs. users more apt to go to health/medical or manufacture sites for information. I have to believe there are also a high percentage of CPAP users that don't gravitate...

Re: Struggling with the wait for CPAP

I know about struggling during the wait. For me it unfortunately led to being treated for anxiety after some very dark episodes in the middle of sleepless nights. For me -- I focused those episodes into a determination to be successful with the CPAP -- to learn all I could about the therapy and get ...

Re: Is CPAP a useful tool for sleep apnea?

CPAP gave me my life back. I get up maybe twice rather than five to seven times every night. I don't wake up with headaches. I don't nod off in meetings anymore. I don't start to nod off at the wheel of my car anymore (!). I don't fall asleep in a chair right after dinner anymore. The pressure helps...

Re: Losing confidence in doc, what to do

I was fortunate that after I walked out of my titration study after a panic attack, I was able to request a full data auto CPAP in order to find the right settings for me -- based on something I read in the forums. Armed with data and a bit more knowledge (learned in the forums), I requested a chang...
