Re: Best tapes to seal lips for mouth breather

Get 3M paper tape.
Do you mean, like 'masking' tape that is designed for masking off emulsion paint?

That's the only 3M stuff I can think of that's paper-based.....

Re: Resmed Airfit P10 - 10 day review

I use the Auto mode too. However, I think you can help it along the way by narrowing the range - so if you find that your machine reports that your average pressure is between 7 and 9, then maybe setup the machine to have a range of 5 to 11 - if that makes sense. Just means that the auto algorithm s...

Best tapes to seal lips for mouth breather

I've recently converted from full-face to nasal pillows and, as a mouth breather, I need to tape up my mouth. I've been using sports tape (ie a form of adhesive cloth), but last night my wife said she could hear me on a couple of occasions trying desperately to suck small amounts of air through the ...

Re: Resmed Airfit P10 - 10 day review

Thanks Jim - great idea.

Did you find you had to change the settings on your machine when going from medium to large? Or, did you AHI change as a result?

Re: Resmed Airfit P10 - 10 day review

I'm in the USA and have all three sizes in my resmed box. Strange to say the least. Yeah, I suspect there's more to it than that - my guess is that it is probably form a shipment of 'demo' units that are only for American shops and in which they only include the medium nasal pillow to cut costs. Kn...

Resmed Airfit P10 - 10 day review

So, I've had my Airfit P10 for 10 days now and thought I would give my thoughts. This is my first nasal pillow, having has the Respironics Amara and Resmed Quattro FX (both full face masks previously). I'm a mouth breather which is why I used FF masks, but I just couldn't bear to have them on my fac...

Re: Airfit P10 settings for Respironics REMstar Auto One

Update: I put the resistance setting back to '0' last night. As I put the mask on an lay down I felt that it was difficult to catch my breath and was having to work hard to get enough air. But, I recalled a similar experience on the first night with the P10 (which ended up a good night) so i persist...

Re: Airfit P10 settings for Respironics REMstar Auto One

Oh, I see - that makes a whole lot of sense now. Hence, I can't see any reason not to go back to the '0' resistance settings that worked well for me on the first night and persist with them for now to see how they go long term. I've read so much about the resistance settings and various contradictor...

Re: Airfit P10 settings for Respironics REMstar Auto One

Before bed last night I experimented with the X2 and '0' resistance settings and I felt that the X2 setting was easier to exhale - of course, whether I was imagining it or not, I don't know............. Anyway, I tried sleeping the X2 setting last night and had a poor night's sleep, taking the mask ...

Yup, it's oxymetazoline hydrochloride I'm using - will try just doing one spray a day on each nostril and see how I go

Re: Which chinstrap for Resmed Swift FX Nasal Pillow?

Totally agree - it's a bad habit and I need to stop it. However, easier said than done - when you wake up you are not thinking 100% straight and quite often thinking instinctively rather than logically. For me, it's as difficult as stopping yourself having the 9th beer when you've already had 8........

Re: Airfit P10 settings for Respironics REMstar Auto One

Very interesting!! I read somewhere that all masks that are not Philips should use the '0' resistance setting on the REMstar machine. However, maybe that advice is only for full face masks? Certainly, I find exhaling that hardest part so possibly the '0' setting is wrong for the Airfit P10. I use th...

Re: Nasal Pillow Tips - natural decongestant techniques

Ah yes, using Vicks Vaporub on the other side of the airfilter at the inlet!! Great idea!! I also thought about those "Breatheasy" nasal strips - you know the sticky plastic strips that some athletes wear to open up your nostrils. But, I suppose the nasal pillows are opening up your nostrils already...

Nasal Pillow Tips - natural decongestant techniques

I've just switched to a nasal pillow for the first time, choosing the Resmed Airfit P10. Since I suffer from a deviated septum, I'm particularly susceptible to mild congestion and regularly suffer from finding either one or both of my nostrils difficult to breathe through. If both of my nostrils as ...

Perfect. Thanks for the feedback - I'll leave it on 22 (especially gratifying since I slept so well with it on this setting last night)
