I finally made it through the night without taking off the mask or stopping!
I may try reducing EPR from 3 to 2 tonight, see how I tolerate that. Heated hose should come this week, hope so. I did end my sleep with a 'thwack' of rain out. Can't miss that!
That's right, we have forced air heat. And it's been colder than usual in our area so the heater has been working overtime. Normally I have a few humidifiers running at this time of year, but due to 'busyness' my wife nor I have been able to spend the few extra minutes to manage the humidifiers.
Interesting comment about the 'cpap rhinitis'. I looked and believe this may be the case. I was sneezing during the day, which is unlikely for me, even for most colds. Runny nose is unusual too, since I have a deviated septum, it usually prevents the nose from running (forward.) I currently set the h...
As with all newbies, I'm trying to get used to feeling like a party balloon. Last night I wanted to reduce the times I woke up in panic. I raised my min pressure to 8 (with EPR - 3) and lowered the top pressure to 13.8. I picked the top pressure based on what I saw the APAP chose to solve the OA's. ...
Thanks to some help, my 3rd night last night was better. If I can continue to sleep like that in the next week or so, I would be ok with that. While it wasn't perfect, it shows that with some perseverance and some help with settings from the 'experts' on this forum "things will get better." I bumped...
The leak rate in my first night did go lower, last night it didn't. Good catch. I'll take a good look at everything, make sure the mask fits well too. I have no problems changing the pressure, so I'll change the min pressure to 7, and bump the EPR to 3. The ramp is already off, that was suggested by...
If you are tossing and turning you will get centrals. When you transition from one sleep stage to another you can also get them, especially going from drowsing to sleep, and if you are waking frequently you will go through that stage frequently. Think of part of your exhale problem as weight traini...
[quote="FrayedTrain"]Thanks for the tips, here I go for my 2nd night. I started out better this time, but woke up and hour or so later with anxiety about the increased pressure. I needed a quick break, so took my mask off and intended to put it back on. Then my wife woke me, ask where my mask was an...
I got about 6 hours of time logged into the machine on my first night. I wouldn't say I was asleep for much of that time. At first I kept trying to keep up with the machine, breathing in faster than I normally do (since the machine did all the work) and then struggling to exhale, especially when the...
A few hours before bed set it all up and watch some tv. That way it won't be that scary when you set it up the first time before bed. I left to just before bed and just about had a panic attack thinking of all the things I was doing wrong, could do wrong, break the thing and die of asphyxiation as ...
Did you ever have a titration study? Curious what your study said for pressures. 5-20 is almost like they don't know where to start. 5 is pretty low. No titration study, my first sleep study was without cpap. Dr saw me and explained about the REM numbers being 38+, and prescribed APAP for home titr...
Well, I guess I am ready. I went to the DME today. I have to say that trying the machine today for the first time took me by surprise. The pressure was more than I'd expected at 5. I was also stymied that I couldn't really talk while the machine was blowing. I tried, in order, a full face mask, nasa...
I went to the DME today. They said I could switch to a new mask in 3 months, and could do so every three months. Since I would have a 'new' mask they wouldn't send the 3 months worth of supplies but wait until I was satisfied with the change then resume the 'standard replacement schedule'.
