Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
Yes, probably for a short while I will be a bit extreme in my food preferences -- no gluten, starch, lots of veggies, chicken and chicken broth. If that helps with my GERD, that would be great, if not, then I'll probably eat more moderately (though still healthy), with a bit more fat too. Thanks for...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
Yeah, thought so. That in bold does not look healthy to me at all. And, yes, GERD can screw up one's sleep. If you don't feel heartburn, you may still suffer from what is called "silent reflux". Having the head of the bed elevated could be a good idea, some people here reported improvements within ...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
A fair number of people who have shared comments on this thread have indicated that I might have a GERD problem, and that that is disrupting my sleep. My thought about attacking that is to be stricter with my diet; further elevate my bed; I also have considered using a Oracle mask as well. My allerg...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
Thanks for the report. I have to retract my earlier statement that your situation is similar to mine. Our pre-treatment situations were quite the same. But when while treatment, we have differences. First of all, you have virtually no FLs. Your CPAP therapy is almost perfect. In one of my posts on ...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
Not sure if it's come up somewhere here, but when's the last time you had a full physical, with labs, thyroid check, possible hormonal or other issues being looked at (along with your allergies)? Sometimes when something's new (like Cpap) everything wrong seems like it should be related, but maybe ...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
And what do you mean by eating "healthy", Tigerbear? The great American food pyramid by chance? Or some other low fat abomination like Michelle Obama's Plate? tan: I've jumped from diet to diet over time, but for the last six weeks or so I've been pursuing an anti-gerd diet: no spicy foods, garlic,...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
Let me tell you about my journey, and maybe something will resonate with you. Unlike you, I was able to take to the CPAP immediately. However, while my sleep improved somewhat, and my worse symptoms went away (frequent urination, drowsiness during the daytime, and my incipient GERD), what puzzled m...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
Thanks for the tips. Here is another report, hopefully more clear and better formatted: http://i.imgur.com/IVdZdYS.png This is a different report than from before. It represents maybe my best night with CPAP -- but as I noted before, my best night with CPAP isn't better than not using it at all. I s...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
as tan suggested, I've put up my sleepyhead results below. Any comments are welcome. The night represented in the report was a somewhat atypical one, in that I used nasal plugs, not a nasal mask, but it is typical in the sense that, despite a low AHI and low leakage, I felt pretty bad afterward. I u...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
Tigerbear, I had issues similar to yours: mild OSA (AHI around 5) and moderate UARS (RDI around 17). Low AHI (even 0.0) was not relevant to how refreshed I was in the morning. See if the following could be of any help: you should not use such a wide range of pressures. That coupled with Airfit F10 ...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
Not sure how to put up an image. However, it really does say "Air10." I noticed that the Rescan software identifies my machine as an Airsense, though. Interesting. It's good to know about different labeling. As if it wasn't already confusing enough to figure out what machines people have. To post a...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
Pugsy: thanks for the comments. Yes, the decongestant is a bit of a stimulant, but my problems preceded my taking it, so I know it's not a big part of the problem. I will definitely try playing with the humidity some. archangle: The bottom of my CPAP says Resmed Air10. Look where this picture says "...

Re: HELP diagnosed w/ apnea; still very tired; CPAP doesn't work
Thank you for all of your comments. I'll try to answer your questions below: Pugsy: The drugs I take are omezaprole for GERD and 12 hour Allegra-D to help with my sleep and congestion. My typical sleep pattern is to fall asleep fairly quickly around 10 pm, and wake up at around 2-3 am. Sometimes it'...
