Last year my insurance would not pay for my CPAP because of the deductibles. I've bought a CPAP machine and I love it but it burnt up. Now I'm using a crappy one off craigslist. New job new insurance this want because of the deductible will cost me $1600 a year. Where can I get a cheap CPAP machine ...

Thanks. I'll try that tonight. The smell was more of electrics.

Re: Sudden strong chemical smell - almost like burning
I would never run it without water! This happened when I was going to bed, so it was freshly filled. Been using this machine for about nine months. I used my old machine last night which gives a better night sleep. I bought it off someone on this board so the manufacturer won't back it up.

Re: CPAP and the Head Cold
thanks!
I have weird thoughts in the middle of the night (and some in the daytime for that matter).
Add in A little sleep deprivation and I have no logic at all.

CPAP and the Head Cold
My second night on CPAP I started getting sick. (thought I was reacting to CPAP). This might be a weird question but is it OK to wear CPAP while sick?
I remember waking up and thinking I was pushing it into my lungs, I'm sure that when I took off the mask because it was off this morning.

Re: Still stop breathing
It is also just possible that you are one of those people who don't do well on autopap, but just need a fixed Cpap pressure as the autos actually wake you up as they try to deal with individual apneas. Can you turn your machine to straight Cpap mode (at what you feel might be the pressure you most ...

Re: Still stop breathing
I think the Doctor said it was obstruction, I've had 4 surgery were they basically Roto-Rootered out my throat. It worked for about 10 minutes. The best sleep is just a humidifier. Sooner of later I'll need to get some sleep I might take a break from CPAP to get some sleep. I commute 4 hours a day a...

Re: Still stop breathing
I know my insurance won't cover any more sleep tests. So no data there. They just said "severe sleep apnea set your machine to 11 and you have a $1,500 deductible" Bought one on criagslsit. REMstar Plus M series I knew I would have to face my claustrophobia, I did not expect such a severe reaction w...

Re: Still stop breathing
My model is REMStarPlus M Series Model #1022334 With a useless humidifier that neither warms nor humidifies. No data. I thought that waking up in a panic as soon as you fall asleep was part of apnea and would go away with a clap. But it sounds like that might another issue. If I'm not making sense i...

Still stop breathing
Tonight is night three with CPAP. I fell asleep quickly and was woken up when I stopped breathing, time after time. This is what happened before started CPAP. Does it take while to stop happening? I set my settings to 11 like doctor said, should turn it up? I don't see the doctors for another month....
