Re: Adjusting Leak Rate to increase CO2

OK... here's a report: http://sensusplenior.net/wordpress/?page_id=48 The second graph is what a normal night looks like using the CPAP. I reduced the oxygen to 3/4 L with pressure at 10 where the periodic breathing would touch the 88% line. Then each night I would decrease the pressure and increase...

REM tracking

Does anyone use any kind of equipment for tracking REM periods? There devices like this available: http://neurosky.com/products-markets/eeg-biosensors/ http://emotiv.com/ http://www.choosemuse.com/ http://www.instructables.com/id/Mini-Arduino-Portable-EEG-Brain-Wave-Monitor-/ http://www.ted.com/talk...

Re: Has anyone needed oxygen to be bled into the CPAP at night?

You can buy recording pulse oximeters for under $150. They were charging me $300 for 24 hours rental through the 'system'. I had to pay it because I have a $10,000 deductible. SO I bought my own and email the data files to the DR.

Re: Adjusting Leak Rate to increase CO2

The CPAP should interpret the extra holes as leakage and attempt to maintain the pressure. I can't speak to what to expect. My goal is to first get off oxygen all together. I have now been off oxygen during the day for more than a week. My night time usage has dropped from 2 LPM to 1LPM and I am abl...

Re: shot of air in the eye

I put my pillow in portrait, rather than landscape position, and roll it to get a bump for my neck. Seems to keep the gear on for me.

Re: Adjusting Leak Rate to increase CO2

Interesting, you spend a lot of time at relatively low SpO2 I also notice your report is still dated 2014...so this is last year, or you have entered the wrong date? It was taken just last night. I haven't configured anything. That reading is without the CPAP. So not spending a lot of time below 88...

Re: Stuffy nose

I read somewhere that in a normal nose the passages alternately swell restricting flow to one side at a time so that only one is getting dried out at a time. When I started I was getting the same stuffy nose. I used a prescribed nasal spray initially to open the passages. It is no longer a problem f...

Re: Adjusting Leak Rate to increase CO2

OK... here is a brief CO2 re-breathing test. This was done without equipment. Laying on my side, I cupped my hand over my nose to provide a capture space. If my breathing became labored I just lifted a finger slightly to change the mix. As I dozed off again the finger would drop. It's not a perfect ...

Re: Adjusting Leak Rate to increase CO2

with the older F model make sure that you're using the cable that came with it, it may LOOK like a usb cable, but it's not. it's a serial to usb converter cable. Are you sure you are using the right cable? Stooopid. I did not know I had another cable with that plug on it. I should clean the clutter...

Can't dump it to a file if it isn't recognized on the USB.

Re: Adjusting Leak Rate to increase CO2

I ran the Sleepmapper from Respironics. Now when I ran Sleepyhead it read the stick.
Still won't recognize the oximeter.

Re: Adjusting Leak Rate to increase CO2

Thanks. Saw all the notes concerning that. Sleepyhead installs fine. USB device not recognized. Using cable that came with it. Go to device manager. Unknown device. THe device is disabled because the firmware of the device did not give it the required resources. (Code 29) Driver tab Update driver Se...

Re: Adjusting Leak Rate to increase CO2

My nasal pillows have no valves. I like them because with my facial hair they provide the best seal in order to have consistent results. I am tuning nearly blind. I am unable to read the CPAP data or the Oximeter data yet. None of the software runs on my Win 7 64-bit computer. The simple test is tha...

Re: Adjusting Leak Rate to increase CO2

To be very clear about all this, I do not advocate that anyone try DYI EERS. First, most folks with sleep apnea will not benefit from it. If you have an impaired respiratory system, the experiments that I am doing could be quite dangerous. Even if you are healthy, the experiments that I am doing sh...
