Re: Second night and feeling lucky!

Well, I thought I was a mouth breather, but now that my body's not struggling to breathe, I'm able to sleep with my mouth closed. So far, so good. I did download the sleepyhead software, but I'm a little bit afraid to take my SD card out of my machine. There was some type of warning on the software ...

Second night and feeling lucky!

Last night was my second night on cpap treatment. It took me awhile to actually fall asleep, and there could have been several reasons for that, but once I fell asleep, it went pretty well. I know a lot of people don't care for the "myAir" program, but it gave me a sleep score of 96/100 this morning...

Re: Newbie Sleep Study Results Question

Thanks, Julie. This is all a little overwhelming. My sleep doc didn't really explain everything very well. That could be because he was running late with another patient and kept me waiting in the exam room for 35 minutes. By the time he saw me, they were getting ready to close and the nurses had th...

Newbie Sleep Study Results Question

I should have asked the doc this question at my sleep study follow-up the other day, but I'm asking here and hoping for some input. On my online "my chart" appointment summary, it states the following: "Moderate, positional AHI 16, supine AHI 49, right/left lateral AHI - 0, 12/26/14 low sat 87%." Do...

Re: Newbie with Mask Question

Thanks all for the suggestions! And it is entirely possible it may have been too tight. However, the sleep tech is the one who adjusted it, so I assume he knows what he was doing. Maybe. It didn't really feel too tight, and I slept pretty well. The nasal pillows sound like they might be a good fit f...

Newbie with Mask Question

Hi all! Just completed my cpap trial and made it through the night with a nasal mask. Much to my surprise, my sleep technician determined that I am not a mouth breather. Now comes the hard part. I meet with my sleep specialist in a week and I am assuming that I may have some input into which type of...

Re: My first night

Novatom...how are you doing? I had my cpap trial last night. Like you, I was convinced I was a mouth breather because I snore. Seems to make sense, right? However, the sleep tech told me that's not necessarily true. You snore because there is an obstruction to your breathing which cause you to try t...

Re: Hours needed for sleep study

Be sure to check with your doctor about the sleep aids. My prescribed ambien for my study (5mg), but advised that some of the other sleep aids can interfere with breathing and create an inaccurate reading.

Re: My first night

I really hope that things get better for you, and from what I've read so far, I'm pretty sure they will. I have my cpap trial coming up tomorrow night, and my follow up next week, so I will be joining you shortly. I have been diagnosed with "moderate" apnea, and really have no idea what to expect, b...
