Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
Mike do you have a copy of your clinical manual? You can get on at this link. http://www.apneaboard.com/adjust-cpap-pressure/change-cpap-pressure-settings-adjusting-your-machine-with-a-clinician-setup-manual Scroll down to section three and at the bottom it will tell you how to order one. Your mach...

Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
How long do you have to dither around before dr has you try bylevel He won't write a script for bilevel. As it was explained to me, the machine I have has the ability to operate similar to a bilevel. This is why they said that if I fail with the present machine there really is no point in trying th...

Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
This is interesting... When you go back to discuss things with your "employee" (your doctor) ask him why he would suggest a pressure that is very difficult to breath with unless you are totally relaxed and is marginal even them. Ask if he has ever tried to breath with such a low pressure. We know t...

Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
4 is the default low machine setting and no one on earth can breathe at it... 6 or 7 being the first reasonable low pressure to start with... plus if you use the ramp, never mind at 45 mins(!) you won't be being treated at all as there's nowhere for the ramp to reach if 4 is the setting entered! Pl...

Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
I'll try it where it's set first and if I can't breathe I may adjust it. Thanks.

Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
Just got a call from the sleep center. She said my machine has APAP capabilities and they thought it might help. So, she went in and made the changes via the modem and we'll see what happens. She said the machine will start out at 4 and adjust as I need it after I'm asleep. Sound feasible? She turn...

Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
It's amazing to me how some in the health care profession can be so unwilling to accept that, maybe, just maybe, something they have not ever seen is happening. You're right, it shouldn't matter. He basically told me I was wrong. I believe it's coming to an end with him. I have not heard back yet b...

Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
Hi - while Cpap may be making it obvious, is it possible you have issues with dairy or gluten that have not been obvious til now but that Cpap has made so? Worth looking into? LOL Thanks. Way ahead of you. I have tried gluten, dairy, wheat, the whole shebang. In my situation, a given food will be f...

Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
Mike - try taking even just half a Tums - just plain Tums - before bed and see if that helps your GERD because it did mine. More than that and it may backfire. I long, long ago stopped taking and PPI's, or anything else because they all had side FX, but plain old Tums doesn't. I have tried it all i...

Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
Mike, In your first thread you once stated that you were breathing shallow and I wonder if you work on that if it might not help things. I had bad GERD frequently waking gaging and coughing with reflux before CPAP and my treatment has decreased it. Back to the breathing, as adults we often breath s...

Re: Looking For Tips On How To Interact With The Doctor
I will be seeing my Dr. on the 20th after 3 weeks of CPAP therapy. My machine was set to 6 and as far as I can tell, I don't think I was able to change the settings. I jiggled the knob to "5" but I don't know if that did anything (you can see the brand on my profile). That's as high as it went, but...
