Re: Sleep disorders NOT apnea
I know that you are right about that, but man have we got a lot of other people to convince ! What are Dreams? Dreams happen during the rapid eye movement (REM) stage of sleep . In a typical night, you dream for a total of 2 hours, broken up by the sleep cycle. Researchers do not know much about how...

Maui, take a look at the post below (it is about 17 postings down from yours). The latest comment is from me a couple of hours ago. It just might help you out as I believe it has me...with a 5 minute fix. Good luck, FredToo Remstar Pro with C-Flex + Problem by Air Force Retired on Fri Jun 13, 2014 8...

Re: Cant keep mouth shut
One more thing you may want to check: Your mouth will open for breathing if your sinuses are not moving air as needed. I mouth-breathed at night (due to slightly deviated septum) for many years not knowing that I shouldn't be. After switching to CPAP my sinuses were kept open, so this allowed my mou...

Re: Sleep disorders NOT apnea
You mentioned that you are now dreaming and you used to not dream prior to CPAP. I assume you mentioned that because you realize the significance of that? In order to dream, you need to reach a deep sleep state, something that most Apnea sufferers cannot do. I rarely dreamed before CPAP and now I do...

Re: Insomnia
a bit of clarification might help here. You said your Mom "does not sleep well"...which sounds to me like you are not necessarily blaming the CPAP for keeping here awake (although I can understand it making a bad situation worse). Are you saying she suffered from Insomnia even before CPAP? If that i...

Re: New CPAP User-Would Chin Strap & Side Sleeping work as well?
Interesting comment about you're not getting any more sleep than you were before. I may be some "blow back" on this, but I don't think the intent of CPAP is to help with insomnia. The kind of waking that CPAP cures is a "semi" waking that we are not even aware of . In other words, if you know you ar...

Re: Adjust pressure REMstar Plus C-Flex
I'm not sure why people are being resistant to answering your very simple question, but I will bite. There are two basic setting systems on the REMstar...one is for the user (can change the settings daily if you like), and the other is for the vendor (for initial one time setup). Several of the opti...

Re: Need suggestion for a nasal mask
I use a Respironics "Opti Life" which is very similar to the P-10 (except it has an additional head strap). I agree that this type of nasal pillow gives the very best seal and is perfect for those who are able to keep their mouth closed at night. You can also read a book with the mask on and that is...

Re: About 1.5 months in and struggling mightlily
I like to consider the simplest possibilities first. You mentioned the sides of your throat. This got my attention because your throat should really not be involved in this at all. Before CPAP I was a typical mouth breather at night (drool on the pillow, dried out throat, sinuses clogged at night, t...

Re: Remstar Pro with C-Flex + Problem
A.F.R., I have been having the same symptoms on the same machine (about 4-5 years old). Only difference is that my problems were not quite as consistent as yours, so it was very difficult to assess the problem or the cause. It usually started it's series of double beeps in the middle of the night an...
