Re: CPAP and Carry On Travel

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll see about keeping it with me. Do I gather correctly that, with domestic flights on U.S. carriers (such as American in my case), the requirement for 48-hour advance notice only applies if you're going to be operating a device during the flight? Since I won't be doing ...

Re: CPAP and Carry On Travel

I noticed this thread and thought I might post about my upcoming travel plans -- the first time I'll have ever traveled with my APAP machine ... Early next week I'll be traveling within the U.S. on an American Eagle flight on a fairly small jet (Embraer EMB 175, which has 24 rows). I can't recall of...

Reset clock on Respironics System One REMStar 60 series?

I noticed this morning that the clock on my Respironics System One REMStar 60 series machine is off by about 10 minutes. Can it be reset manually? Or does it set itself by GPS or something?

Re: Can dental nightguards worsen apnea symptoms?

Roger, good points about the pressure range. When my machine was originally given to me, it was set for 4-20. Everyone here agreed that 4 seemed very low, and the effect felt minimal to me. After some experimentation, I've found that somewhere in the 5 to 6 range seems to work best for me sleeping o...

Re: Can dental nightguards worsen apnea symptoms?

Just a side note -- in my profile, I've selected to show that I use a "PR System One REMStar 60 Series Auto CPAP Machine." For many months this appeared at the bottom of my postings along with my mask, humidifier and "Additional Comment" about my pressure setting and SleepyHead use. When I look at m...

Re: Can dental nightguards worsen apnea symptoms?

Thanks for all the comments, very interesting. Some specific replies: ChicagoGranny: The cervical collar sounds like something I should at least try. It looks, however, as though they come in various widths. Do you need a medical provider to tell you what size to use, or do you just take a shot at w...

Can dental nightguards worsen apnea symptoms?

For some time now I've been using a System One machine and F10 full-face mask, and my AHI for the night is generally less than 1. By far, sleeping position seems to be the most important factor. If I go onto my back, the AHI goes up quickly, the machine pressure increases and I wake up long before i...

Re: Affordable in-home test gear?

ResMed makes a non-contact sleep monitor that might help you get the data you want. That, coupled with a recording pulse oximeter, should be helpful. It costs about $150. ResMed S+ Sleep Monitor How it Works It does require a smart phone or similar device to work properly, though. It doesn't requir...

Re: Affordable in-home test gear?

Why? Sleeping without my machine is not something I would endure voluntarily. Sounds like you are interested in playing games more than your are in living better or longer. That's not our priority here. Buy a night vision camera, then the will have video of cause of death. No games, it's just that ...

Affordable in-home test gear?

Is there any reasonably affordable test gear for use at home that records data such as apnea phenomena, sleep position, etc? I have a CMS 50D+ oximeter, but am interested in collecting the other data recorded by gear used to diagnose sleep apnea. Certainly some of this information is provided by CPA...

Re: Full-face mask and jaw pain

When the sleep clinic gave me the P10, they set it up with medium pillows, and also included a set of smalls. I vaguely remember there was a set of large in the box, but they chose not to give those to me for whatever reason. I tried switching from the medium to the small to see if they would be a b...

Re: Full-face mask and jaw pain

Pugsy, thanks for the additional suggestions. I had my third and final appointment with the endodontist this morning; he said the jaw pain may have been related to sutures that he removed today, so he expects the jaw pain to be shortlived if it continues at all. That's certainly good news. Meanwhile...

Re: Full-face mask and jaw pain

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been trying various sprays to see if they can help open up my nasal passages enough to make nasal pillows feasible. I didn't think Flonase was doing the trick, but I may not have stuck with it long enough. My wife swears by it, so I'll give it a shot. In the meantime...

Full-face mask and jaw pain

I've been using an AirFit F10 full-face mask for seven months now. I've had various issues with it, but overall it's been okay. I'd like to use nasal pillows instead, and have an AirFir P10 setup, but my nasal passages just aren't clear enough to make this work. A couple of weeks ago, I had oral sur...
