Month 3 Update: Observations & Questions

I'm finishing my third month now on CPAP and it's going very well! My tested AHI was 66 and treated I am now down to the low single digits. I'm sleeping better and longer and my wife is happier too! A few comments and questions for all: 1) I've woken up a few mornings and found I've taken off the ma...

Re: Which DME do you use?

Lincare. They are the only in-network (Aetna) provider in my area. I've only met with the local office once for my fitting and have yet to deal with the back office folks for supplies and re-orders. I expect that's when the fun begins. If I end up strongly dissatisfied I may look into CPAP.com as th...

Or a roll of two inch tape
Maybe duct tape!? It would cut down on my shaving time in the morning!

Re: First CPAP night tonight

It seams that you have a very positive attitude about the cpap ing .... that is very important. Have you looked at Sleepyhead software, it will allow you to look at how you are doing. looks like you have been reading here for about a month so you probably allready know about it. Yes, thanks. I'm on...

Re: First CPAP night tonight

You can do it! One thing that someone here recommended and its cheap enough to not break the bank, yet make a huge difference is a hose holder. I got this one, http://www.amazon.com/North-American-Healthcare-JB5651-Holder/dp/B0034CHMRU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1418089223&sr=8-1&keywords=cpap+hose+hol...

First CPAP night tonight

Met my LPN at the DME this morning to receive my new Airsense Autoset and Eson mask. It's the same mask I used during my titration which seemed to go pretty well, hopefully it will continue to work well for me "in the field". I picked up some distilled water and wipes but beyond that I'll just try t...

Re: I am so angry and disappointed

Good news! Someone messed up the reports (if that can be considered good) so the DME was seeing my titration results rather than my original test results. I had an AHI of 66.1 on my first test, so the doctor resent that to the DME and now the DME is happy, my insurer is happy and I am happy. Thank g...

Re: I am so angry and disappointed

Hmm - those two reports are radically different and may have just gotten the wrong names on them before they were sent out. You must check into it. This was one of my first thoughts - "Did they mix up my data with someone else? Send the wrong report?" I need to hear from the doctor. None of it is m...

I am so angry and disappointed

Having completed my titration study my sleep doctor sent the polysomnography report and prescription to my designated DME. I stopped in the DME yesterday to introduce myself and get a sense of what product lines they carry, etc. The DME staff then came out and said to me: "Oh, we got your paperwork ...

Re: Things non-apnea people say.

I was one of those that thought this whole sleep study business was a scam. No more!
Getting my machine next week.

Things I'll now say:

"Thank goodness for CPAP!"
"I should have done this years ago."
"No, thank you, for putting up with this for so long!"

Re: First DME visit coming up

... If your insurance does the capped rental thing...you probably will be money ahead to just buy your machine online because your deductible will start all over again in January. Do the math. In my case I ended up paying about the same buying it privately as I would have if I had used my insurance...

First DME visit coming up

New to CPAP and this community. Thank you for this resource! I had my polysomnogram a few weeks ago and was told my score was 'severe' with an index score of 66. I have requested and am awaiting via mail a copy of the test results so I can dig further into the data. Like many of you I am comforted b...
