Re: Update: Weight Loss and Increasing AHI
I posted this as a separate thread http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic/t101729/Leaks-and-Mouth-Breathing.html I have noticed very dry mouth some mornings. I figured it couldn't be due to mouth breathing since my leak numbers are not too bad. But, now I'm wondering if mouth breathing might be registeri...

Re: Leaks and Mouth Breathing
I posted in another thread about how my AHI numbers have been going up recently. I assumed it wasn't mouth breathing b/c the leaks are not large on my reports.
Could mouth breathing artificially increase my AHI?

Leaks and Mouth Breathing
I use a nasal mask. Lately I have been waking up with a very dry mouth. But I don't see any indicator of large leaks.
Can you have mouth breathing without leaks showing up?

Re: Update: Weight Loss and Increasing AHI
So...are you still feeling less rested like you mentioned in the other thread? If you are feeling great...I wouldn't worry but if not feeling so great...if I had those reports and wasn't feeling so great I wouldn't be happy with the numbers I see. Is the AHI still primarily OA and hyponea and are y...

Update: Weight Loss and Increasing AHI
Hi Folks, So as you might recall from previous threads, I've been tracking an increasing AHI over the past 4 months as I've slowly lost 25-30 lbs.\ Earlier thread here http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=101402&p=946981&hilit=weight+loss+ahi#p946823 I tried raising my pressure to 14 constant...

Re: Help-NEW AHI going up as I lose weight. Data inside
OK. Try to give it a few nights though.Den. Yes, it would be helpful to see the screen shots of the detailed report...especially the AHI event category break down. Here are the last few days, pressure set at 14 (the first screenshot it was 14.5-20). I'm really at a loss for what is going on here. I...

Hi folks,Wulfman... wrote:OK. Try to give it a few nights though.
Den
.
A followup after I tried the suggestion of keeping pressure set at 14.0 for a couple nights.
Two nights the AHI were around 5.5, then last night I got a 7.9.
Any thoughts? Would it help to post more data screen shots?
Thanks

Re: Help-NEW AHI going up as I lose weight. Data inside
After reviewing those nights of data, I would recommend setting your minimum and maximum pressure to 14 cm. That was the night you had the "best" (lowest) AHI and least variation in your pressure. Anyway, I would suggest trying that single pressure setting (min. & max. the same) for a few nights an...

Re: Help with Weight Loss and increased AHI:Update
In response to Julie's questions earlier and also fyi: I located my original sleep study report from 2010. It noted that I slept supine almost 100% of the time. Also, my original AHI was 36, and they titrated a cpap for the second half of the study to a pressure of 8 cm/h20. The report recommended ...

Re: Help with Weight Loss and increased AHI:Update
Thanks Julie. I am not sure about the side sleeping. I can try, but its never been comfortable way for me to sleep, and I feel like I'm going to push the mask off when my face is on the pillow. But, I can try it. I saw my sleep doctor at the end of August, at that time, there were no problems, he sa...

Re: Help with Weight Loss and increased AHI:Update
Thanks for the reply Pugsy. Normally I am a back sleeper. However, when I asked my girlfriend, she said lately I have been moving around a lot more and rolling on my side more. As far as how I've felt, I definitely feel less rested than normal (fell asleep in the waiting room while my oil was being ...

Re: Help-NEW AHI going up as I lose weight. Data inside
Den, Thanks for the reply. I will try the 14 min/max setting. But, I am curious why you think the max setting might be an issue? I don't really understand how the machine works, but I was assuming it only goes as high as it needs to and then goes back down. How might the high pressure create higher ...
