Re: F&P Sensawake feature - - Review
I have a F&P Auto Icon with SenseAwake as well. It was not set up by me DME. After waking up a couple of times during high pressure with air blowing out my mouth, I got intrigued with SenseAwake and set it up myself. Ultimately I decided to turn it off. Generally speaking I have pretty low pressure ...

Re: Cpap, asleep or awake?
While I can't explain the "hows" of the SenseAwake feature, I am a F&P Auto user and a relative newbie (end of October). When I received the machine the "SenseAwake" feature was not enable by DME--wasn't even mentioned. While I have mild to moderate apnea and low pressure needs (my average is around...

Re: best way to clean hose
For what it is worth: I was instructed by DME to clean hoses one time a week, soaking them in a solution that is 3 parts water, 1 part vinegar. I mix the solution up in a plastic pitcher. I then take the hoses and connect both ends to the sides of my sink faucet using a hair twisty with the open end...

Re: My first night
Just offering support and encouragement. I am 3 months in. Please believe me....it DOES get better. And your first night sounds similar to my own. I didn't make it 2-3 hours in my first couple of nights. I fully admit I resorted to TYlenol PM on nights 3 and 4...and it helped. I managed most of the ...

Re: Aromatherapy Question
I use aromatherapy and the answer is ......that depends! I use a one of those round makeup remover pads and put it on top of the essential oil bottle and turn the bottle upside down quickly. SO I get a dallop of oil without saturation. I then place it near the air intake of my cpap machine. THis doe...

Re: Alcohol as a sleep aid
Take it from a very experienced wine-o.......I mean wine connoisseur. Alcohol is a crappy sleep aid. As already said: you may fall asleep faster/sooner due to alcohol's sedative effect, but then the second half of sleep is completely disrupted...you wake up, can't fall back to sleep, and feel all th...

Re: Took advice and raised my minimum pressure
My PCP instructed my DME to leave my APAP range with factory settings: 4 to 20. Based on what I read here, I feared it was laziness. (And truthfully based on my recent experiences with my PCP over the last 12-24 months, the assumption of laziness may actually have merit...but I digress.) Once I sett...

Re: Half of Dr. Oz’s medical advice is baseless or wrong...
True Dr Oz story: I worked for a large, not for profit, religious-founded healthcare system. I was in charge of the agenda and planning for an all day, all management meeting. I approached Dr Oz's people about him doing the keynote speech. The fee for a 90 minute talk? $100,000. WHen I politely inqu...

Re: F&P Icon Auto Vs Resmed airsense 10
For what it is worth: I'm a newbie, two months in with a F&P Icon Auto. I've been pleased with it, adjusted pretty quickly, been easy to learn, works well with SLeepyhead, etc. My apnea is somewhere between minor to moderate, so I don't need some of the more complex features. I'm still on the learni...

Re: I think more people should explore pass over humidifiers
CG, no I don't have an insulating hose cover. Do you think that would help with the rainout? I was afraid that would make the air all the more heated, and I find it difficult to fall asleep with hot air blowing. (The hot air makes it difficult to fall asleep, and then later in the pm the rainout mak...

Re: I think more people should explore pass over humidifiers
Trust me, Chicago Granny, I did. For me the issues were the temp of the air (too warm for my liking) and the rainout. We like to keep the bedroom pretty cold, and the heated humidifier still created rainout even on lower settings.

Re: I think more people should explore pass over humidifiers
I gave up on putting water in my built in, heated humidifier. I kept getting rainout and humid air blowing into my nostrils made me feel like I'm suffocating. So I gave it up and improvised. I bought a separate cold air humidifier and put it on my side of the bedroom somewhat near the CPAP machine. ...

Thanks for point. I did see that..... Alas I've seen conflicting info in another spot, so was looking for affirmation. I'll take this one as the "source" based on your recommendation to do so. Appreciate the response!

What is acceptable leak--total and rate?
I've been a CPAP user for just over two months and believe it is going reasonably well. My compliance is good, and I can tolerate it for at least 6 hours most nights. I haven't heard from my DME or my PCP really about data, and I finally successfully loaded SLeepyhead last pm with the help of comput...
