Re: Newbie's first night ... with SH data

Just finished my fourth night on CPAP. Will have to say that this is the first morning that I noticed a difference in how I felt, and that being that I felt a little more alert and energetic that normal. I will have to say that when I set my hose size properly it made quite a bit of difference on ho...

Re: No motivation to continue therapy

As a newbie myself ... Just 3 nights down ... I'd have to agree with the Pur-Sleep suggestion. I started using it on day-1 and do believe it helps me relax. I would also suggest that you consider changing your ramp settings if you're going to continue to use it. I tried it the first night and hated ...

Re: Newbie's first night ... with SH data

Thanks for all the great information! It is a new machine. I asked during my orientation at the DME and did verify the machine blower hours were zero. However, they initially unboxed the 560 with just a passover humidifier and the 22mm hose. When I challenged this, they switched out just the humidif...

Re: Newbie's first night ... with SH data

I do have the correct hose with the proper connector; however, my power brick is only 60W.

Just noticed that SH is also reporting that I DO NOT have heated tubing.

Guess I'll be contacting the DME on Monday to switch the power brick.

Thanks!

Re: Newbie's first night ... with SH data

So I just noticed that the tubing type was set incorrectly on my machine. The DME tried to give me non-heated humidifier and non-heated tubing yesterday when I picked up the machine. When I pointed out that I wanted heated humidifier and tubing they switched it out; however, they gave me 15mm heated...

Re: Newbie's first night ... with SH data

Thanks for the quick reply. I think it was just the alien strapped to my face. I started out with the ramp feature, but turned it off after about 2 minutes. Likely just anxiety, but didn't feel like I could get enough air. I do remember a couple of times waking up thinking there was a lot of moistur...

Newbie's first night ... with SH data

So I finally got my machine yesterday and had my first night with it. First, I'd just like to say thank you to all the posters on this site. I felt very prepared because of everything I've read/learned on this site over the last couple of weeks. I was prescribed CPAP with a pressure of 8, but I chan...

Re: Newbie research

I wanted to thank everyone for their replies and feedback on my post, and have really enjoyed reading many of the topics here. I feel like I've learned a lot and am feeling much more prepared to start with my treatment in the coming days. I did contact me DME today and asked that they do what was ne...

Forgive my ignorance, but where would I find the NC student thread you referenced?

Re: Newbie research

So I've checked my insurance coverage and it appears that DME is covered 100% with the script from the doctor. After reading further I can see the benefit of having the APAP and it looks like the most recent model for Respironics would be the IN561TS (System One REMstar Auto A-Flex with heated tube ...

Re: Newbie research

Just spoke with the DME and they indicated that their normal machine for my script would be a Respironics 460. They indicated that it is data capable. Can anyone confirm what software works with this model, or what software is preferred?

Re: Newbie research

So I got a copy of both my original and titration studies. Not sure at this point what data points are most relavent, so if I miss something, please let me know: Original Study: TST = 386.9 min (N1 = 14.8% / N2 = 67.2% / N3 = 3.5% / REM = 14.5%) AHI = 29.8 (155 OA / 0 MA / 2 CA / 36 HYP) REM AHI = 1...

Re: Newbie research

That was one of the options I was surprised to learn about. Will definitely be looking into trying those out also.

Thanks!

Newbie research

Diagnosed with OSA a few weeks ago. I just completed my titration study last Thursday, and the script went to the DME today. I started doing some research about CPAP a couple of days ago and discovered this site. Learning a lot from member posts already. I will be calling by doctor today to get copi...
