Re: Radon anxiety and cancer with CPAP
Best wishes in your research. I can't see how we actually increase our tidal volume except of course that during apnea episodes no air volume is going in. My dad died of brain cancer at 54. He had very sever (never diagnosed) sleep apnea. All of us can remembers his loud snoring and then long period...

Re: Can't use nasal pillows and need new mask suggestions
I also have not been able to wear the nasal pillows. I think because my headgear strap will not stay down on the back of my head ( never could wear elastic headbands either) . Anyway ive used my cpap for quite a few years mostly using the respironics s profile lite petite size _ the headgear has to ...

Re: tongue tied procedure. anyone had it?
Yes, my sons had the frenumum (the little tissue under your tongue) that connected the tongue almost all the way to the tip of the tongue to the base.

Re: insurance coverage is 70%. have older machine with leak.
Archangel, that is indeed my machine. I had never removed that connector before lastnight. I did get it removed and was able to attach the hose with no air leaks. I am going to fiddle around with it today to see if I can put it back together without a problem. I had a lot of mask leaks and was still...

Re: Poll: GERD and Sleep Apnea
just an fyi- gastric reflux is more common at night for everyone ( sleep apnea or not). I can't remember all the reasons, I know one had to do with the horizontal position makes it easier for acid to come up into the esophagus, but I also believe we have more stomach acid at night- can't remember wh...

Re: insurance coverage is 70%. have older machine with leak.
Archangel, my machine looks a bit like that, only it has a built in tray on the front about 3 inches wide with a metal plate that pushes down when you connect the water reservoir. So without the reservoir it looks like a part is missing. I do think you are right about my being able to connect the ho...

Re: insurance coverage is 70%. have older machine with leak.
Thank you for your replies. On this unit the water reservoir has the male unit and the machine the female, so there won't be a way without an adapter to bypass the water reservoir. Even if I don't use water that is where the hose goes. I really appreciate everyone's advice. I decided to just bite th...

Re: Newbie Observations & Questions, 14 Days In
I also have problems with the plastic tabs on the sides of most masks. I do not think going up in size will help you, but I would suggest you try respironics profile lite mask. Its an older style that has a LOT more gel than any other gel mask ive tried. At one point my dmp told me this mask wasn't ...

Re: Glucose Meters
I worked as a school nurse in a high school for 5 years. I purchased a reli on brand to have in the office. The test strips are.the least expensive and having used it many times to recheck results from other meters it always did a fantastic job. I don't think its the best but it. will certainly give...

Re: Traveling with xPAP - What do I need to pack?
I guess I lean to the other extreme. I only pack my machine with one mask and the powercord. No extras. So far, no matter where I have gone, and I have travelled a bit, I have always been able to use the machine. There are times ive needed to unplug a lamp to plug in the machine or sleep with my hea...

Re: insurance coverage is 70%. have older machine with leak.s
Pugsy. Thank you so much for the offer. That is exactly where the air is leaking but the rubber or silicine still feels very soft. My thought is that perhaps this is the time to get a new machine though. I don't know why I'm bubbling. But the noise I make is so significant that my husband keeps waki...
