Abandoned the Resmed F30i and replacing with an F20 Airfit
I posted some time ago that I had chosen the wrong sized F30i and thought I had solved the problem with a sock on my head - well that turned out to not really work. Yes I had one good night but constant noisy leaks spoiled others. So I contacted the supplier and it evolved that currently Res-Med in ...

Full face mask might be important for you too
I've been away from this forum for some time now, basically because I had abandoned use of ResMed CPAP gear. Why? Two reasons 1. I did not feel it gave me better sleep as I was still feeling fatigued as if suffering chronic fatigue syndrome and 2. I was to go on an overseas 2 week holiday so did not...

What lessons have your learned about CPAP?
FWIW here is my list: 1. (Top of the list for sure) The value of interchange of information on this board. 2. Getting accustomed to using CPAP is a battle, one I gave up at first attempt. 3. CPAP might not revolutionise your life and make you bright and clear headed - it did not do this for me. The ...

Re: The life of a ResMed Mirage Activa Cushion is limited
Did you boil it in tap water or distilled water? The first time I tried the boiling trick I used tap water and my nasal pillows were still a lot whiter than I wanted. So the next time I tried using distilled water with the baking soda and when I rinsed them off I also used distilled water. They cam...

Re: The life of a ResMed Mirage Activa Cushion is limited
OK, now boiled up and obviously more flexible but still white where the plastic is thick. I'll give it a try to see how it fits now (rather than wait last thing at night).

The life of a ResMed Mirage Activa Cushion is limited
In my experience is is not much more than 12 months. After that time it appears the plastic gradually hardens so loses its flexibility and looks very white. As a result it more readily loses its seal making farting and other noises to wake one up. I had not realised the extent of its deterioration u...

Regular maintenance of tubing with ResMed
Some time ago I posted about difficulties with the tube blowing off and finally have found the answer. In response to a suggestion here I tried wrapping a piece of Velcro (the prickly half) around the connector on the mask. Yes it certainly stopped the hose coming off but it consistently generated a...

Does mask fit influence AHI reading?
I would have thought not but last night I woke up early, only 5.5 hours registered, a bad mask fit but AHI of 0.0!!!! The m,ask fit is driving me nuts at the moment. It has registered OK some nights but then shows bad others. I'll tighten the straps a bit but do not want them too tight and uncomfort...

Re: Resmed Hose blows off the mask
No progress with either plumbing or auto suppliers. A net search for a rubber 20mm coupler revealed this item; http://www.rubberstore.com/catalog/neoprene-multi-convoluted-rubber-bellow-135mm-18mm-connector-18mm-p-8116.html but they do not have supplies and want a minimum purchase of mopre than one....

Re: Resmed Hose blows off the mask
What about silicone tape that sticks to itself as you stretch it around the connector? Tried that but sadly the connector has stretched beyond where tape etc application to the mask works. I'm guessing the shape of the connector is now more conical rather than cylindrical so that makes dislodgement...

Re: Resmed Hose blows off the mask
Thanks for the replies. I tried to buy that velcro from Amazon but for some reason the checkout button never apperared so I could not continue & gave up in the end. They insisted I buy more things. Thank you all for the other responses. Some points in reply: * the hose is a heated one and cannot be ...

Resmed Hose blows off the mask
Seems this is not uncommon. After a while the plastic/rubber, or whatever it is, stretches so is less firmly attached to the mask so it blows off. Using tape to increase the diameter of the connection on the mask helped for awhile but now does not. Now I'm told I need a new mask, something which see...

Re: New CPAP user struggles - don't know what to do
I empathise with your dilemma and abandoned CPAP myself after having exactly your reaction when first attempted some years ago. But I was forced to go back and try again 5 years later and found it just as challenging. But it is not surprising that CPAP gives problems at the start. What can be worse ...
