Re: Season for Humidifier Questions

I predict you will really like that heated hose. When I got the upgrade kit so I could have the heated hose plus my 90% humidity I was in heaven. Probably the best money I ever spent. It's easy to swap out the lids and plug that tiny electric plug in. Thanks Pugsy. I had a really good reply going a...

Re: Season for Humidifier Questions

I originally had a 550 without heated hose and a hose cover. Am now using a 560 with heated hose and without a hose cover. The 560 can generate air that is humid to the point of being oppressive during summer months. That same level of humidity is welcome now. My anecdata is that the 560/heated hos...

Re: Season for Humidifier Questions

Put some old thick mouse pads under your machine to keep it from being pulled off the night stand. Good idea. I'll try that but my real problem is rainout. Route your hose under the covers and next to your body to add warmth. Hose cozies will help, too. Read my post. I already do this. You may have...

Not sure how a longer hose would solve the rainout issue?

Season for Humidifier Questions

With ambient temps dropping, seems like some of us new to CPAP are having some problems with excessive moisture. I'm one of those people that has a nose that likes plenty of humidity. Setting the PR System One humidity control to the automatic setting didn't provide enough so I reverted back to the ...

Re: Better Sleep = Increasing AHI ?

First, thank you all for your replies. I'm still learning and the feedback is helpful. To go along with my theory of my AHI increasing as my sleep improves with PAP, last night was somewhat fragmented for a number of reasons and it showed up in the AHI reading. Dropped from the day before, 1.78 to 1...

Re: Better Sleep = Increasing AHI ?

Pugsy, the category that seems to be increasing is hypopnea. For example on October 2 hypopnea's occurred at the rate of .34. Last night, that had increased to 1.52 . The respiratory effort related arousal measurement seems to remain pegged around 2. All the other measurements are tiny numbers. And ...

Re: Better Sleep = Increasing AHI ?

Pressure is settings are 6.5 - 12. Usually runs up to around 8 then back to 6.5 with an occasional 10 cm h2o.

Better Sleep = Increasing AHI ?

If REM stage sleep contributes to more events, would it stand to reason that as you sort out all the issues with PAP and you cycle more frequently through REM your average AHI might begin to creep upwards? We're talking fairly minor increases from around 1 towards 1.5 AHI. After a few months on the ...

Re: Nuance Mask Noisier than Swift FX?

Thanks for the tips. The Nuance headgear has a hose loop for routing the short elephant snout overhead so maybe I could use that to route the 22mm hose over the headboard. Has a cozy too. White noise, hummm. Will need to work on that.

Re: Nuance Mask Noisier than Swift FX?

Thanks for the reply Pugsy. Yep, it's the Darth Vader sound. I just don't understand why it seems one mask compared to the other is louder. The internal bore of the pillows seem to be similar. I'm going to try it again tonight. Maybe I can stuff some sound deadening padding under the huge elastic ba...

Re: Nasal pillows are hurting me bigtime

I too experienced the same thing. Left nostril really tender and crusty at one point. Not a scab but just a hard crust of some kind. The nasal pillow apparently rubbed a raw spot on the septum side of my left nostril. I found loosening the headgear a little helped tremendously with the overall nose ...

Ear Ache in the Morning

Hello all: Hope someone might help answer a question for a newbie. Have been using CPAP for about 30 days and have had all the usual adjustment issues. This morning I woke up with a painful ache in my right ear. I removed the head gear and chin strap and after about 30 minutes the pain went away. Ea...
