Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
Thanks Pugsy, I do have EPR enabled, I think. I will experiment with those settings to see what feels comfortable. My machine was accidentally set to 8cm and I felt like it was a problem for me. After changing it to 6cm, I thought there was an improvement. I'll try some different tweaks. There are m...

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
Now I'm about to round the corner on my second week with a CPAP machine, heading into week 3. The pressure adjustment seems like it may have helped. I did sleep better for 2 nights in a row at the new pressure setting. But I'm still a bear at work. I had to give a presentation at work on Friday, and...

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
Thanks everyone! Yeah, I'm wondering if I should try some different masks overnight. I've only tried them on at the office and given them a quick thumbs-up or thumbs-down based on my initial feeling with them. Anyway, I feel better today than I did yesterday but I'm not 100% myself again, yet. Lower...

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
Just got back from seeing the respiratory therapist. It turns out that she accidentally set my CPAP machine to 8-cm instead of 6-cm. Also, I discovered that if I tilt my head so that my chin is closer to my chest, the mask leaks a lot. I think that we've corrected both of these things, so I'll give ...

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
Thanks everyone! I went to bed at 11pm and woke up at 3:30am and could not get back to sleep. I'm exhausted and I feel like I'm losing my mind. I called-in sick for work today and plan to call the technician who set up my CPAP machine. I really want to return it. I feel like I can't afford to be thi...

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
I hate it when my nose itches and I have to undo the mask to scratch it. The seal seems pretty good but the eye-shade mask could be letting air in. what I finally figured out, while wearing the mirage quattro, was that all my nose itches were caused by the air coming and blowing my nose hair around...

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
I'll have to ask about nasal pillows! Thanks for the suggestion.englandsf wrote:Side sleeping with a full face mask is tough, face down is tougher (with any mask). Have you tried nasal pillows like the P10 or Pillairo?

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
Expect to spend 30 days and try 5 or more masks to find your right fit/type. Then expect another 30-60 days adjusting exhale relief, humidity and hose temp etc. If you have the money you can buy masks instead of rotating them via your DME's return program - or use cpap.com's return insurance. You'l...

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
If you are waking up a lot of times each night for whatever reason then it is going to totally trash the restorative powers of sleep because your normal (and much needed) sleep architecture gets totally messed up. So...are you waking up a lot more often..maybe finding yourself in an uncomfortable p...

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
Additional Comments: Pressure: 6cm Thanks for the additional information. That's a pretty low pressure. If you're not already, I'd suggest using some software (ResScan or Sleepyhead) to monitor your therapy. That will give you some idea of what's happening during the night. One week is a pretty sho...

Re: New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
I'm a relative newbie; I started CPAP on Feb. 3, so I'm 6.5 months into it. It took several months for me to feel completely rested in the morning... I was able to gradually get adjusted to most aspects of the therapy after about a month, and it took just a couple of weeks to be able to sleep throu...

New CPAP User Struggling in First Week
Hi All, I've been seeing a sleep specialist or pulmonologist for about 6 years but I was only recently diagnosed with a mild sleep apnea. They told me I had an average of 13 blockages an hour, which seems very high to me but they tell me that this is mild. I guess there are others who have over 100 ...
