dissecting the elephant / tackling the aerophagia is next

One wise person in this forum suggested I tackle my concerns in little parts. Thats been hard as I've wanted to solve Everything, Immediately. Understanding and tinkering with settings has been a big part of my steps toward success. I will continue on both things there. My current question is a comm...

Re: I won't quit trying, but don't know how to fix this!!!

Sorry you are having trouble. If most of your apneas are taken care of with a pressure of 8, I cannot understand why you might need to go to near 20. As has been indicated, if the pressure is set too high, the machine will try and get there to make sure that errant apnea is brought under control. T...

Re: I won't quit trying, but don't know how to fix this!!!

I should note that I can not see how to go back in to adjust my equipment profile to reflect that I've transitioned to a full face mask. Its a fairly good fit now, after trying two others which were not. I have been staying at this, attempting to see why things are going so poorly... To think that ...

Re: I won't quit trying, but don't know how to fix this!!!

In an earlier thread, you mentioned that your ramp was set for 5-8, and then goes higher--much higher. You had also referred to your pressure "ramping up" to higher pressures. This is not the same ramp that the manufacturer means. (the first one is) Can you see what the min. and max therapy setting...

Re: I won't quit trying, but don't know how to fix this!!!

To edit your equipment go to the user control panel....Profile tab then the equipment tab and then edit equipment tab. Make your changes and click submit. I don't understand what your problem is from your above comments. If the machine thinks it needs to go to 18 cm then there is a reason for it wa...

Re: Lowered expectations for success

You might try a wedge pillow that lifts your head and upper body a bit to make it easier to breath. I should've included that I am fairly "propped up" with a series of pillows; carefully perched in fact. Thats why it was so shocking that I thought I was all set with a good tight fit on the mask and...

What do you mean by that?
As the pressure increased suddenly, much air was force from the perimeter of the mask, despite my efforts to tightened to a rather uncomfortable level.

Lowered expectations for success

I have tried the nasal only mask and am now on my third full face mask (F&P Simplus). I think I've finally gotten a good fit but I'm realizing there are limitations to the process, in general. For years I've been sleeping on my side to reduce snoring (prior to using CPAP) and was soooo hoping to now...

Re: 3 concerns after first night!!

Welcome to the board. Please fill in your equipment in your profile so we can help you better. There's a link in my signature line. What does it say next to the power button on your machine? Yes, the air pressure may get air in your stomach and cause burping. We call this aerophagia. Sometimes it g...

Re: 3 concerns after first night!!

I suggest mask liners; they will protect your face from sores/irritation. They are also good for minimizing noise from leaks. Karen at Pad-A-Cheek makes nice ones, and she also has strap pads; go here: http://www.padacheek.com. You could also try the RemZzzz liners; they are available from https://...

Re: 3 concerns after first night!!

I did update most of my equipment info. Important reminder there. When I read info it only showed how long it was in use last night. On the second screen there were figures which meant nothing to me. So far as the gulping of air perhaps I should prop shoulders and head up somewhat.

3 concerns after first night!!

My sleep study was at home. My titration was at the sleep lab and they now have my ResMed S9 on auto settings to start at pressure 5 and ramp to 8. It is my understanding that the pressure can go much higher if needed. Since my apnea is severe with an index of 46.3 there may have been times it rampe...
