Re: Apria refuses to honor lifetime prescription

Oh! Good to know. Thanks I've called my regular doctor and left a message asking for a prescription.

Apria refuses to honor lifetime prescription

I recently changed health insurance and now have UHC (not medicare) for insurance and they told me to use Apria to get my supplies. I already have a machine and just need new supplies. When I faxed my lifetime prescription and a copy of the original sleep study (from 2014) to Apria, they refused to ...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use

Tell your provider and they should swap out your tub for a new one.

Re: AirSense AutoSet Noise

I had the same problem for 2 months. I solved my problem by changing the humidifier to the new Dishwasher Safe tank https://www.cpap.com/productpage/resmed-airsense-aircurve-10-dishwasher-safe-chamber.html I recommend trying it. It solved my problem completely So switching from the regular tank to ...

I purchase distilled water from the store. The brand is usually Hinkley or Mountain Spring, whatever is on sale.

AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use

The discoloration on mine was similar to Dave's and I exclusively used distiller water and never ran dry. When I showed it to my DME they used a Brillo pad on the stain and some of the brown color color came off on the pad but the spotty areas remained. They sent it back to Resmed and replaced it fo...

AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use

I ran into the same problem with mine. It's the regular tub and I have only used distiller water. When I reported it to Resmed they blew me off and told me to talk with my DME which I did not have at the time. I have since replaced it and made sure to empty it every morning. Not sure if that has mad...

Re: Are All DME's Bad?

Does anyone have a good recommendation for a company in the Chicago area? I interviewed a few DME's in the NW suburbs and am happy with Health Technology Resources in Northbrook, http://www.solutionsforsleep.com. I emailed them asking some questions and they got back to me quickly and followed up w...

Sorry I may be frustrated but there's no excuse for my grumbling and rants. This forum is incredibly helpful. Just ignore my previous posts.

Re: Awful Sleep Center Rant

You're in Chicago...There must be dozens of places to get a sleep study...and dozens of doctors that you could go to to get a prescription for a study. Whenever you get a study or a prescription ...immediately get copies. HIPPA mandates that the patient owns the records. My GP would not prescribe a...

Awful Sleep Center Rant

It has been incredibly stressful going through the process and red-tape. Let's ignore how long it took me to get someone to recognize that I may have sleep apnea. I saw the physician on 8/11 and he thought that I should not drive and come in immediately for a sleep study. First available appointment...

Re: The Undiagnosed Millions

I would agree that if you want to get people diagnosed or even aware that they may have sleep apnea, we need to both a) make people aware of what the symptoms are (while busting myths about snoring and weight) and b) get doctors to give a **** enough to listen when people bring them up and not dismi...

Re: AirSense AutoSet Noise

If you already have a history of noise sensitivity, getting desensitized to the machine is likely to take longer. Another thing: Since 1980, I have slept within 400 feet of one of the busiest rail corridors in the region, and I will vouch for the effectiveness of double-glazed windows. Hubby has in...

Re: AirSense AutoSet Noise

is it a noise that happens with your breathing? I've had a mild wheeze in the past that seems to vary depending on the hose and other things. (one source of hose induced noise was a respironics elbow that I had to change the direction of the hose coming out of the back of my resmed. I'll experiment...

Re: AirSense AutoSet Noise

My first week on cpap was on a used (now broken) respironics that I scrounged up to get by. The sound of the machine, air whooshing in the tubes, etc don't bother me at all. I have been sleeping next to my husband's jet engine cpap for 6 years. What bothers me about the noise is that it only happens...
