Re: Which ASV Machine Is It That Can Be Switched To APAP Mode?

Seems like the 960 was the one I was thinking of. Sounds like it can be adjusted to pretty much function as an APAP.

Re: side effects from lack of adrenaline

Distortion of the normal function of the HPA axis (the stress response system) leads to depression, restoring it to normal function is not associated with depression. I would definitely look into your depression further with a medical professional.

You don't need to bother removing the oxide formation layers, its harmless and will just return.

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use

The vinegar removing it essentially proves the metal is reacting with the water and heat to form an oxide layer (and then reacting with the vinegar to remove the oxide through another chemical reaction). Its obviously being caused by the application of heat to the metal since I doubt you will see it...

Re: heated cpap hose

I wish I could turn up the humidity without getting rainout at lower temps. The 5 setting on my PRS1 series 60 with heated hose makes me sweat it is so warm, but the humidity is just right.

Re: filthy filters

Agreed about having your home air evaluated. That soot is coming from somewhere, and you are breathing it. I use an MERV 13 class filter in my furnace and after a month my white filter looks like new (and yes, I am sure it is installed correctly), so my air is apparently fairly clean from my main fu...

Any chance you have a total face mask (the one that goes around the entire face)?

If so, I'm interested.

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use

No doubt about it, a major hot spot is forming and as a result you're getting thermal spalling. Either the heat is all being generated in one spot, so a faulty heating element, or the metal isn't spreading the heat throughout the metallic volume correctly or fast enough so it is building up in one s...

Re: AirSense 10 Humidifier badly discoloured after first use

Thats what is known as thermal spalling. It's a defect in the metal caused by a hotspot that formed when that part of the metal got much, much hotter than the surrounding metal. Somehow it heated unevenly and as a result it caused this thermal spalling. This is a good indication that either the heat...

Re: Black ring around face

If you just want to keep the soot particles out of your mask/CPAP, make sure the ultra-fine filter is installed. That will def. catch it. Soot particles are usually quite large. I would imagine it won't be long before your CPAP is ruined for good if that crap keeps getting into it, and that is absol...

Re: Congestion causing aches and pains?

On the road and congested for the last three nights. Lots of aches and pains in my ribs and upper back and sides. I'm thinking part aerophagia (from swallowing lots of mucus perhaps) and part muscle ache from working so hard to breathe (I'm obviously really good at keeping my mouth closed). Anyone ...
