Re: Aerophagia...CPAP vs. BiPAP
Increasing from 11.5 to 12 made all the difference for me. .5 too much and I ended up in pain. Played with the settings until I could find a number that kept my AHI down without the aerophagia

What do you do when you have to be in the hospital
Planning surgery in the next month and will be in the hospital several nights. Can you bring your machine or do you have to use theirs? I use nasal pillows and can't tolerate a mask. Any pointers? Thanks!

Re: Craigslist M seris vs Remstar Pro
Thanks Greyghost. That's a bipap and thankfully all I need is an APAP. I think someone out there in another post could use this as they were looking for a bipap

Craigslist M seris vs Remstar Pro
Lots of PR cpaps M series on craisglist but very few of my machine Remstar Pro. I have a 560 and saw a 550 for sale but the downside is no heated hose. What is the M series like? Looks smaller and might be good for back up / travel. Any disadvantages. I don't travel with humidifier so am not worried...

How many people have a back up unit?
What is the average life expectancy of an XPAP? I read about people having back up units. Wondered if I should get one. If so do people usually get a used unit or a cheap brick? Some posts mention ones with a lot of hours on them not having a big resale value. Is there a number like on a car where t...

Re: New PR machines coming next year...
My DME was supposed to change my settings remotely when I first started out. That's the way the doctor set it up. She ordered a change and they never did it. Thanks to this site I figured out how to make the changes myself. That wierded me out that they could push buttons that would impact my breath...

Is Swift FX pillow similar to P10?
Liking my Nuance Pro headgear, but am in between sizes on the nose pillow and get leaks if it shifts a little. Medium leaks in center and Large on outside edges. If they only angled in a little more. Tried a Swift Fx - Pillows Ok but Bella loops hurt ears and headgear gave me a headache. Thinking of...

Re: Taking mask off while asleep
Could you go to sleep with mittens on? Would make it harder to remove the mask so you might wake up first

Re: nasal pillows better than full face?
It's an individual thing. I believe Pugsy reported aerophagia with a FFM and uses pillows. My AHI dropped to 1/10 of what it was when I switched. Am in a medical profession and know that how the airways work . Just in my case the air pressure went down the esophagus and that hurts. If more went in b...

Re: nasal pillows better than full face?
All of the air goes in the airway with either mask. However if you do a search for areophagia you may find that with a full mask some people eat the air through their mouth and swallow it so it goes down the wrong tube. If you look at my posts you will see my experience there. Don't know if it's a r...

Re: My nasal pillow made my AHI drop vs full face mask
My settings are 9.5 to 11.5. When I had the FFM 12 gave me aerophagia. Lower than 9 didn't go up fast enough to break the clustersa. This setting range is working so I only have 1-2 OA events a night so I might try going in a lower to higher range now with the pillows. Or not. If it ain't broke you ...

Re: My nasal pillow made my AHI drop vs full face mask
The sleep study was going to cost me $800 copay even though I has met my deductible. Since I am feeling great and the clusters are gone I have decided not to bother unless there is a problem. In the meantime I will keep tracking data to see how it goes If it wasn't for this site and the help from pe...

My nasal pillow made my AHI drop vs full face mask
My AHI has dropped from over 10 to 1 since I switched to nasal pillows. I think I was swallowing the air pressure and the mask was encouraging mouth breathing. Went from almost 100 OAs to 1-2 per night. This has been consistent for the last 2 weeks. So excited about the success had to share it! This...

Re: A better travel case for CPAP machines?
While I have the APAP, I bought the Remstar Pro case for bipap from cpap.com. A lot better than the cheesy bag that came with the APAP. Nice roomy bag padded but not as much as I like. I use a printer with toner and cartridges come in a plastic bubble sleeve. I put that in the bag for extra padding ...
