Re: Headstrap slips up with Quattro

right over top of my ears
I just reread what I wrote and want to clarify... My ears are not mashed to my head under my strap. The strap merely touches where my ears meet my noggin.

Re: Quattro torn cushion - need a repair suggestion

Wow Josef, thanks for the offer, but unfortunately, I'm wearing a medium and that's a little on the "too big" size. I really appreciate the offer though! I was thinking about backing it with some tape, probably medical (cloth) tape, to see how that would work, but was afraid that it might put strain...

Quattro torn cushion - need a repair suggestion

I know that there's a number of lab rats out there that are not afraid to take a hacksaw and drill to your masks to improve them. I'm looking for your help (and that of lab rat wannabe's too!). Somehow, several months back, the cushion to my mask developed a slight tear at the bottom of the cushion ...

Re: Headstrap slips up with Quattro

What I've ended up doing is thumbing my nose at the "right way" to position my straps and I just do what works. My top strap always slid up off the top of my head too, so what I now do is wear the upper strap at the same place that the band of my baseball cap goes. The strap runs right over top of m...

Re: Beards and masks

I use a ffm and have a mustache and goatee and the only time I had any serious leak problems was when I shaved them off! That, and the mask caused me to break out where it came in contact with my newly bare skin. The only place that I have problems with leakage is on either side of my nose, just bel...

Re: Hiking at High Altidudes

I'd talk to your doctor and see what, if anything, they recommend. My concern is with altitude sickness, specifically High Altitude Pulmonary Edema (aka HAPE). HAPE is a build-up of fluids in the lungs caused by a shortage of oxygen due to the lower pressure at altitude. I'm not sure if OSA may be a...

Re: POLL: What two symptoms lead you to have a PSG?

I chose snoring and daytime sleepiness, but was tempted to choose "other" in place of the second. My "other" was occasional severe bruising of my legs and arms. Interestingly enough, I wouldn't have the bruising as severely on the nights that my wife gave up and slept on the couch or in our son's ro...

Re: Where Do You Place Your Machine?

I also have mine on my nightstand. It sits about the same level as the top of my mattress. I splurged when I bought my equipment and got the Hose Buddy ( https://www.cpap.com/productpage/HoseBuddy-CPAP-Hose-Suspension-System.html ) and absolutely love it. I also take it with me when I travel since t...

Re: Resprinocs M Series--Blue Lights Blinking

The blinking blue light is on the humidifier knob only, not all the lights on the whole unit. There's no way that the humidifier would know if the card is in or not. The only two connections between the two parts are the "air path" and the power cord where the main unit leeches its power from the hu...

Re: Resprinocs M Series--Blue Lights Blinking

Mine just started doing the same thing the other night. I overlooked the post that Wulfman linked because I didn't think of my humidifier as being "DC powered" Take a look at the topic that he linked and look at the pictures further down that are provided by TheDreamer. You might find that your unit...

Re: How dry I am... M Series Heated Humidifier problems

Ironically, I saw the topic title but didn't read it. I saw "DC" and figured that it was some type of battery operated unit, not mine, since mine plugs into the wall. My unit is the first listed in the Respironics letter. I guess that's what happens when you troll the message boards at 4am without h...

How dry I am... M Series Heated Humidifier problems

A couple of nights ago I took the tank out of my humidifier to full it, only to notice that it was already full. "How sweet," I thought. Apparently my wife had filled it for me in a kind and loving gesture. Last night, I noticed that it was again full. That was what got me suspicious. I noticed that...

Don't miss out on his website either. If you select the "Can I stop wearing my CPAP" question, you get this very nice and informative video response: http://www.natures-rite-remedies.com/holistic/ask-steve.php?faqid=4 Also, he answers the question regarding FDA approval: "The FDA only regulates labe...

Re: Newbie with Q's about dry mouth, beard, etc.

Good news! I have the ResMed Mirage Quattro FF mask and actually got MORE leakage when I shaved! I keep my beard trimmed short, so I'm sure that plays a part in it. I can't say how well of a seal that you would get with longer hair. The best advice I can give is to give it a try before shaving. Also...
