Re: Alternative to Mirage Active Nasal Mask?

I am currently using the ResMed Mirage Softgel which I will admint is a tad bulky but it seals nice, the dial to pull of the bridge of my nose is nice and works. I don't move a ton when I sleep so it seals very well on me with out being tight. and I have a rather full beard and mustache. Good luck ...

Re: Alternative to Mirage Active Nasal Mask?

I can only purchase a new xPAP including mask once every 5 years as per my insurance company's rules. I am long overdue. It's been almost 10 years now. I had a heckuva time in trying various masks, nose (nasal pillows), full face masks, early on, but I always came back to the Mirage Activa Nasal Ma...

Re: Congestion Near End of Night

I suffer from allergy's big time I get sinus infections alot. So trying to dial in the humidity and understand it is going to be key for me. Normally around Oct or Nov is when things get back for me. And I will most likely have to switch to a full face mask since I will switch to a mouth breather a...

Re: Congestion Near End of Night

I will keep an eye on the filter I don't think that is the issue. the machine is only 4 days old. I hope it isn't plugged up that badly. Lol.. the recommended change interval for those filters is six months. but it pays to keep an eye on 'em, I wish they made the plastic covers clear, it'd be easie...

Re: Congestion Near End of Night

Sounds like adjusting the humidity worked for you. For me, back when I had an M-series CPAP ( humidifier went from 0-5) I typically used it as a passive humidifier (set to 0) during the summer. In the winter, I'd go up to about 3. But different climate, and preference make the biggest difference. I...

Re: Congestion Near End of Night

Is there any good explanation of what the numbers represent in terms of humidity.? Scientifically speaking, 0 - None 1 - A little bit 2 - A little bit more 3 - Middling amount 4 - A good bit 5 - http://forums.usms.org/images/smilies/drowning.gif OK that helps me. I will keep going on 1 to see how I...

Re: Congestion Near End of Night

Turn your humidity down to 1 and see what happens. Too much humidity causes congestion in some people. Where do you live? Unless you live in a dry climate, you may be able to do without the humidifier. Lowered it to 1 last night did a lot better was able to sleep all night nose was a ton better. Is...

Congestion Near End of Night

New to CPAP finally got a good machine. However I am noticing 2 to 3 hours before I wake up I am so congested that I need to take the mask off. If I put some saline up there it will loosen things up. My Humidity is at 3 No climate line.(Thought about it) Looking for some advice on what could be caus...

Re: Cleveland clinic Home Care

Finally got my resmed s9 today with a new mask also since the ESON wasn't cutting anything but the bridge of my nose. Now I get to play with all the really cool settings. So from the experienced people out there anything I should try? I did consider putting it in APAP mode but not sure what I would ...

Re: Just tested Newbe

So I just got tested Monday night, the place I got tested will help get a machine and equipment but I know that from reading posts here the 1st step is to get the best fit on a mask and then worry about the machine. The place I was test seems to only carry "We carry Respironics System One CPAP mach...

Re: Cleveland clinic Home Care

their reason is in valid - if your pressure says 8 then the tech sets the the min and max to 8 ( and then you go home and fix it to what you want) I don't agree that this is a valid reason. Since APAP's can run in EITHER CPAP or APAP mode, if you have a fixed pressure, all they have to do is set it...

Re: Cleveland clinic Home Care

It's the titration PSG, a cash cow no one wants to release. I told my doc I wanted an APAP because I was hoping for a weight change, and couldn't afford doing more pricey sleep-overs. If more people are firm about this, we might be able to eliminate dispensing the lesser machines. Got another call ...

Re: Cleveland clinic Home Care

Didn't Make sense to me either. I wanted to stay with the clinic cause of there rep location sleep centers are nice etc. But looks like I will be looking for a different sleep doctor and hospital once I see my primary care doctor. I do have my sleep study report no problem getting that . Thanks for...
