Re: How sleeping positions helps AHI numbers

This has also been my experience. I was stuck at ahi levels between 7 and 12, and was assessed in lab as having mixed obstructive and central disease. I was placed on auto-sv without improvement until a trial with the collar instantly dropped me to ahi .1-occasional 1. By way of proof as to the coll...

Re: Complex sleep apnea, but can't tolerate ASV

I'm usually an observer here, but want to ask, Debbie, what mask configuration and sleep position you use? If you also treat GERD, do you elevate your head? Does your body habitus lead you to a "chin down" flexed neck position which opens the posterior pharynx and reduces the airway anteriorly? This...

Re: Travel advice and a little common sense

Julie. As I said, I already use a soft collar, but for optimal AHI also need the hyperextension that the Anti-snore pillow provides. I am trying to devise another solution for that hyperextension, vs sacrificing optimal AHI as I said above.

Re: Travel advice and a little common sense

Oops....guess my post was totally unclear. I'm not considering traveling without my machine for even a second. The only item i'm leaving behind is the large anti-snore pillow. I'm trying to decide it it's important to find an alternate to achieve the extra neck extension it provides (in addition to ...

Travel advice and a little common sense

Finally, after four years struggle from AI's in 30's and AHI >50 via prongs/CPAP through BIPAP, Full Face to AutoSV and still with AHI's 10-20's and quite erratic, found you guys and SleepyHead several months ago.(Deepest thanks to the site and its active players.) Re: Newbie AutoSV Help Needed

Took a while to get it together, but your "ditch chinstrap and use soft c-collar" advice was spot on. AHI from mid teens to <1!! Now looking at leaks and comfort. Switched to Quattro Air as part of adjustment. Amy idea what the expected leak rate should be? Again thanks a bunch for your help thus far.

Re: Newbie AutoSV Help Needed

Thanks Pale and JDS. Had massive leaks for several days, and had to reduce Max Pressure to 20 for sleep partner. Also raised ePAPMin to 11. Here's my last night. http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/b502/arkis26/Fullnight8_11_zpsf765dc9e.jpg As you see, much of the active time is maxing out on my pre...

Re: Newbie AutoSV Help Needed

Tks JDS. Will for sure try out the collar thing. Is the jaw drop this for sure, and your suggestion may help the mask seal at the same time. Am nose breather except when I clog up which could be part. Of the high pressure leaks I'm getting now. Thanks again.

Newbie AutoSV Help Needed

Have been visiting the room about 6 weeks and really appreciative of the dedication and info of the participants. Now its time to jump in and get things under control. Was Dx OSA 3/2010 with AHI 48, Arousal index 47 secondary to OSA, CA, and Hyp. Began with BiPAP @ 16/12. Various mask choices led to...

Neewbie Sleepyhead question about the PR Sys1 BipapAutoSVAdv

Just starting with the forum. Many thanks to all for the help, support and empowerment. I read a post stating that Sleepyhead doesn't work accurately with my machine listed above. I just downloaded it, and it seems to read my SD fine, and generate the expected graphs. Was this other post accurate, o...
