Re: Anybody just give up?
I'm sitting at my desk, practicing with my machine and mask that I picked up for the first time today - yes, total newbie. Would nasal pillows work with this device? Practicing with your cpap is actually a good idea, especially if you have trouble falling asleep with it on. Sit and watch TV or do s...

Then I don't get the concern by your doctor. Titration studies are just to set the correct pressure. Sorry your doctor is being difficult.Enchanter wrote:They said it's a titration and I will be wearing the mask all night long.

Re: Doctor says sleep pill will mess up the test
I'm confused.....why won't the sleep center doctor order the Ambien for him? Why does he have to rely on his PCP to order it? It could be like my sleep center where I had to get a prescription, eszopiclone (Lunesta), from my doctor. I don't know if they couldn't prescribe it or wouldn't. I didn't a...

Re: Is 2 hours of sleep a requirment to wear the PAP in a study?
Is there a rule in every split study that the patient must be asleep for 2 hours total before he gets to wear the CPAP mask? Nope I had 84 minutes for the full night and was put on CPAP in the middle of the night. I was surprised I even slept, it felt like I was awake the full time. The worst night...

Re: What just happened.
As for having a therapy cat: I have had similar experiences. Prior to being officially diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea, Ringo (my yorkie) would sometimes sleep on the bed with me. Many times I would be awakened by him. He is a very smart dog. He would use his paw gently and scratch at my fee...

Maybe the board was getting spammed? Or "they" are testing something.
I usually have to enter a captcha a few time because I seem to misread one of the characters.
Captcha usually slow people down more than bots anyway.

Re: Nightmares
When your OSA is treated you tend to be able to fall into a deeper sleep. So yes you could be dreaming more. There are some articles that suggest you get into a rebound REM sleep mode where you tend to have more REM sleep than you had before. This eventually lessens as your body get used to having u...

Re: Leaks and Mouth Breathing
I assume you've checked your data and can't see any large leaks. If your data is showing no leak then I'm not sure what is going on. You can have mouth leaks that aren't large enough to cause a problem. You may just have your mouth open enough for some air to leak and cause a dry mouth. Your machine...

No! Now you can die in a flaming car crash on a Monday morning on your way to the DME to replace your Broken XPAP machine, after it broke Friday night and you didn't get any therapy for 3 nights and fell asleep at the wheel . Well then you would have died in your sleep now wouldn't you? If unaware,...

Re: No motivation to continue therapy
Being claustrophobic may have a lot to do with your problems. Have you tried other masks? You are already using a nasal mask maybe going toward a nasal pillow type mask may help. Could your headaches be from the straps on your mask? You seem to have a data capable machine, do you use software to che...

It also says "Recording noted steady snores". My wife was in the bed reading, she said I snorted, 2X. Twice. Unless your wife stayed up all night and monitored you she probably missed some of the snoring. Or the machine's interpretation of snoring is different than your wife's. I know my wife sleep...

Re: Pain in nose on first night.
As was said you can make your mask too tight which can make it hurt and cause more leaks. Need it just tight enough without it leaking. Seeing what your pressure data is when you feel the pain would be helpful. You might be moving into the higher ranges when you feel pain. What did (both) of your sl...

Re: DME says Not to look at SleepyHead!
It doesn't have to have any meaning, just tell the doctor that I'm using it. I was told by the RT to stop looking at my sleepyhead data. That it wasn't important to learn what it all meant. She said that I would just drive myself crazy and it wasn't necessary. I was also told (about the mask) that ...
