Re: Why Aren't All Machines Fully Data Capable?
Let me start by saying that I think they should not sell bricks. Insurance companies should insist on decent machines. That being said, as a person who develops and sells software for a living, I do understand the pricing model. The software for CPAP/APAP/BiPAP plus testing and regulatory compliance...

I would love to see a picture of the rat sleeping away on CPAP.

Resmed S9 and Leaks
Using the latest version of Sleepyhead, I see a percent of time in Large Leak territory. Couple of questions. First, what percent would be considered a problem to address? Second, what percent is needed to get that red unhappy face on the machine? I use pillows and see about 20% large leak territory...

Re: CPAP.COM very helpful!
I understand all sides. First, after dealing with the medical world of CPAP treatment, insurance companies, scamming DME's, Dr's, etc, added to lack of sleep (an yes, partner listening to snoring all day also qualifies) anyone can be ready to burst out. On the other side, the folks at CPAP.COM are i...

Re: Custom Mask...?
There is a company working on using 3D printing to create masks. Maybe you can beg to be a beta tester. http://www.prweb.com/releases/Metamason ... 042981.htm

Re: centrals / worth switching to APAP?
Is the ENT certified in sleep medicine? If not, may want to go elsewhere. Heck, may want to go for a second opinion regardless.

The site appears to be a study run by the Patient Outcomes Research Institute. According to their website, "The Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) is an independent, nonprofit organization authorized by Congress in 2010. Its mission is to fund research that will provide patients, t...

Re: What should recovery room staff know
Definitely tell the anesthesiologist that you are on CPAP. When I had surgery, this was very important since it will change how he manages your airway during the procedure and recovery. Although he should deal with the folks in recovery, probably would not hurt to tell the nurses before the procedur...

Quattro FX vs. Airfit F10
So I am in the never ending quest for the best mask. My DME fitted me with the Quattro. It was a disaster. Leaks and it bothered my eyes. They are coming out to fit me with the Quattro FX. I notice there is also an Airfit F10, but they do not carry that one. For those of you out in CPAP-land, what a...

Re: Still using an older APAP, but should I get a new one?
If you are doing well on the existing machine, can deal with the possible risk of needing a new machine (fed ex works great...) then I would wait. The next generation machines are long overdue and will likely add features and improvements worth waiting for. The next generation machines will probabl...

Re: best results with set pressure
Can't speak for anyone else but my Dr. set the pressure at 10. Tried that for a month with good results (AHI < 3). Decided to try a 9-12 pressure and my AHI went up to > 5. Decided to move it back to CPAP mode at 10 and all is good.

Resmed S9 Mask Setting
Last night my nose was all plugged up so I switched from Pillows to FFM. Only the second time using the FFM. Since I was half asleep, I forgot to set the mask type on the machine. I noticed this morning that my AHI was up to 10.0, the first time since using the machine where things were above even 3...

Re: CPAP machines and enhanced airport security
Flew last week with CPAP. It was a domestic flight. Out of Chicago O'Hare, I told the security screener it was a CPAP and asked if I needed to take it out of the bag. He said that most screeners say yes, but go ahead and leave it in and send it thru. In Washington DC at Reagan Airport, they had me t...
