Re: Newbie - Oscar uploads

I've been using a CPAP machine for 5 years. I constantly have problems with my nose closing up. I do use Flonase (which may, or may not, actually make a difference). My problem with a stuffed nose caused me, early, to switch to a full face mask. I'm currently using a ResMed AirFit F20. Not perfect, ...

Re: Something weird is waking me up!

For me, I have noticed some "pulsations" when I've had Exhalation Pressure Relief active. It seemed like the machine sometimes got a bit confused about whether I had stopped inhaling. There seemed to be a pressure relief just before I finished a breath in, but not quite at the turn around point. Whi...

Re: Link Between Iron Deficiency and Sleep Apnea

I don't have any references, but apparently low iron levels are associated with either Restless Leg Syndrome or Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. Even if you don't have Sleep Apnea, either of those can certainly disturb your sleep. Also, there are at least two (possibly three) distinct blood tests fo...

Re: I nearly died tonight Apnea attack ??

"choking and can't get your breath and you suddenly realise it's not working" ... the breathing is not working, I take it you mean. I have had what sounds like the same experience, but while using the CPAP machine. For me, I would say that this was very clearly acid reflux: I had "burped up" some st...

Re: Nasal changes while on therapy

Thanks for the responses. And, what humidifier setting did you settle on? Currently, usually 4 or 3. I may be missing something, but that sounds like the heated hose setting, not the humidifier setting. The humidity settings are only 1, 2, or 3. If you're using SystemOne Humidification and a heated...

Re: REMSTAR M series w humidifier - voltage converter required?

I wouldn't completely trust the "machine specs" (what's the source?). Rather, if there's a "brick" between the residential power and the machine, find the label on the brick and see what it says. I have a different model, but the label on my reads "100-240 V." (Of course, they could get info on the ...

Re: Smoky CPAP stuff: one person's trash is another's treasure?

I consider Febreze to be an odor masking agent, not an odor eliminator.

There are numerous cigarette smoke odor "eliminators" to be found. Here's one: "Vamoose" http://www.vamooseproducts.com/. They offer a fragrance free version. Which seems like quite a statement of confidence.

Re: should my heated hose feel warm?

I don't heat my house at night, and like having a window open in my bedroom. It's Winter in North America and even in the Pacific Northwest, my room air temperature can get down to 50 degrees F or so. Of course that means that the intake air temperature for the machine is much lower than it is in S...

Re: newbie - warm and dry air ?!?

I did what you instructed, and it doesn't seem like I can control the system one humidity when it has a heated tube connected. When the tube is not connected, I can certainly see that option. I disconnected the tube and changed this setting, and re-connected the tube. . . . (I've tried to take care...

Re: Itchy nose

Yes, that's a problem for me too. I do trim my nose hair, and I often "pre-scratch." I often get itches just outside my nostrils, so nose hair isn't causing that. A previous mask was tight fit and my nose would often bump against the inside when I turned my head. A new mask gives me more clearance b...

Re: Do Many of You Have the Ramp Feature Turned Off?

For the most part, I do not use the ramp feature. When my machine has gone into leaf blower mode and wakes me up, I just turn it off and back on again. Otherwise... I don't use the ramp feature to get to sleep because my usual starting pressure does not bother me. A problem I found with the ramp fea...

Re: Soliciting opinions on S9 humidifier funniness

I'm pretty comfortable, except for the rainout I'm getting in my nose pillow mask, which I did not get in the past. . . . Just a thought, but if the sensor in the hose has failed somehow ("broken wire?") then I could see that the machine might just default to no hose heat (hence the rainout) and no...

Re: Orthodontics can cause sleep apnea - Class Action Lawsuit

While I certainly think that re-tractive orthodontics can cause obstructive sleep apnea or help cause; I don't think there was any malice or negligence when I had that done to me. Do I think it exacerbated the issues? Yes, however I don't think the orthodontists were intentionally causing OSA. . . ...

Re: should my heated hose feel warm?

For me, the "temperature control" feature has been very frustrating. I've had my machine for six months and recently got a new hose. It made no difference. The system may be working "as designed." Regardless, I'm not happy. At the same heat setting, when grasping the outside of the hose the felt tem...
