Re: OT: Percocet Withdrawl
Amitriptylline (Elavil) can cause or aggravate depression... I'd be very careful with that. It is a tricyclic ANTI-depressant. Its primary use is to treat depression. It is also used at lower doses to treat chronic pain. Depression is NOT a side effect of amitriptyline. Julie, please do not make re...

Re: Surgical Alternative
For me the septoplasty was very helpful - lowered my prescribed pressure from 13 to 9 and made it possible to use nasal pillows. The UPPP surgery was a waste.

Re: Airsense Software Upgrade Out Now
I Googled "Airsense 10 software update" and found this link: https://www.rmdassets.com/airsolutions/air10/Customer%20Fact%20Sheet%20Humidifier%20OTA%20PB%20V15.pdf I didn't closely read all of the posts in this thread - sorry if someone already posted the link. Sigh got fooled by the necroed thread....

Re: Have you had a COVID-19 Vaccine or have an appt?
I work in a university healthcare clinic - I will get my second dose in 1 week. My wife is over 65 and got her first dose this past Tuesday. It took some luck to get her in on Tuesday - hit the website the moment it opened for the week's appointments and selected one of the county's sites that is in...

I encourage you to download Oscar and check out your sleep results that way (I'm assuming you have a machine that provides data).

Re: stuck without CPAP - tips for sleeping?
It isn't very comfortable, but I have found that sleeping in a recliner is better than sleeping in bed if I don't have CPAP. If your bed is adjustable, you can probably use that and it would be more comfortable.

Re: Do you keep a running record of your results – Looking for advice
I used Sleepyhead daily when I started using CPAP in order to fine tune treatment. Over time I've gone from uploading and viewing the information daily to weekly and now to every other month. I didn't consider keeping any other sort of records, because Sleepyhead (now OSCAR) stores and summarizes th...

Re: What are your thoughts on these consumer pulse oximeters?
You know, for years, I've been telling my clients with insomnia to avoid naps as part of an effort to reset the sleep wake cycle. It has been a part of CBT for Insomnia and Stimulus Control Treatment for Insomnia for decades. I was initially tempted to fire off a quick rebuttal to Elavi001, but then...

Re: Planning to buy a CPAP but need some help
Pugsy's offer makes a lot of sense! You probably don't need a bi-pap (but who knows at this point???) and if you don't you just run it in auto cpap mode - if you do need bi-pap, you will have saved hundreds of dollars that you would have spent by buying a cpap and then finding you really needed a bi...

Re: What are your thoughts on these consumer pulse oximeters?
CMS50 is a line of pulse oximeter made by Contec. Some of the models have recording capabilities, some do not. The ones that do are usually compatible with OSCAR too, so the data can be imported into that program. So something like this? https://www.amazon.com/CONTEC-CMS50F-oximeter-monitor-softwar...

Re: Sleep apnea or insomnia?
Insomnia can definitely result from a concussion. Insomnia from a concussion usually lasts a few weeks, but has lasted much longer in some cases.

Re: auto PAP machine - timings off when breathing out
Welcome to the cpaptalk forums! When I first started using CPAP, I experienced this, too - however, this isn't how CPAP actually works. In other words, it was just me getting used to the fact that air is always coming in - even when I'm breathing out. I'm not familiar with this brand of machine. The...

Re: CPAP and a cold
I second (third?) Palerider's advice. Do what you can to manage cold symptoms then wear a mask anyway (if I use both Afrin and decongestants (e.g., loratidine), I can still use nasal pillows). If I have a cough I tend to use a cough remedy and a decongestant (this is the one situation in which I use...
