Re: Disadvantages to being diagnosed with Sleep Apnea?
It sounds like you are taking all the right steps for self treatment since you are monitoring your readings. It really depends on you, I got my diagnosis over 7 years ago and the only time I've talked about it with my Dr. was when I asked him for a 'script for an APAP instead of a CPAP. Some people ...

Re: Fisher Paykel Icon vs. Icon+
Just picked up an F&P ICON+ Auto after using a RemStar Auto for the last 7 years. Really like the RemStar and managed all my data using the EncorePro software. I've finished setting up the F&P software. I missed a couple of steps at first but hung in there and got the USB key synced to my identity. ...

Re: Oracle HC452 Oral CPAP Mask
I've been using the Oracle mask for years now and wouldn't use anything else. I never could get any of the nasal ones to consistently seal and they all eventually rubbed my lip and cheeks until the were sore. With the Oracle there is nowhere near the same bulky headgear, you can sleep on your stomac...

Re: Rainout Rainout Go Away
Sorry, my best solution for condensation was to put my Respironics Auto on a short stand in front of my bedside table so any condensation would flow downhill back to the reseviour

Encore Pro and REMStar Pro
I checked the forums and couldn't find the answer. What functionality does Encore Pro have with the REMStar Pro? Not the Pro 2 but the Pro. From all the comments it looks like there are a lot of Pro 2's out there but not so many Pro's. Anyway I just wanted to know if all I'll get from the software i...

Why not the Oracle
It always surprises me how few people seem to use and then recommend the Oracle oral CPAP mask, especially for side sleepers and stomach sleepers (both of which I am).

Try the Oracle mask
You won't have to worry about mouth breathing since its a mouthpiece mask and the hose sticks out of the mask at a 90degree angle and swivels so it's almost never in the way whether sleeping on either side or back and even a little on your stomach (as long as your head is tilted a little to the side.

i use the Oracle and sleep on my side
I know this will probably not go over well but I sleep exclusively on my side (both sides) slightly rolled over onto my face. The Oracle mask has worked wonders for me. Since it's just a mouthpiece with an elbow sticking out to connect to the hose I can roll almost all the way over on my face withou...

Hi RC, Welcome to the forum What pressure is your machine set at? I am at 19 so I have to wonder if my wife would be getting nose plugs shot at her during the nite. Another consideration for you (from your picture) is the facial hair issue. While I only have a mustache I found the whiskers made the...

[quote="Peterau"]Tooly, My 2 cents since the thread is still active. I am on 9cm and have recently started using the Oracle. Like all masks it takes time to come to grips with the way it will work for you. Having said that the Oracle has taken a bit more effort than the others I have used. Like you ...

One other thing. The nose plugs are for training. Most people should be able to to stop using them after about 2 weeks. I did. Guess it is the test of a true mouth breather. Thanks for the info. I was not aware of that. If I could indeed train myself to keep my sinuses closed (to keep the back pres...

Hi RC, Welcome to the forum What pressure is your machine set at? I am at 19 so I have to wonder if my wife would be getting nose plugs shot at her during the nite. Extremely good question. I'm only at 9 so your concern may be a very good point. However, I would refer you to a message from Petreau ...

You don't really have to bite it, but I do tend to. By 6-8 months the material it is made of is starting to fray from the contact with my teeth. I don't conciously do anything with my mouth.Anonymous wrote:RC, do you have to bite on it? or just 'place' it in your mouth? just curious as I may have to get one!

Some of us love the Oracle Mask
I know I'm late to the conversation but I love my Oracle 452 and completely disagree with the negative comments in this thread. However, this is a YMMV (your mileage may vary) kind of situation. I found, with my mustache, the only way to get a good enough seal with an over the nose mask was to tight...
