Re: Can you explain all this to me?
Oxygen saturation dropped below 90% during 0.4% of sleep time (Does zero point 4 percent really mean 40 percent of the time or does it mean 4 percent of the time?) Snoring: Mild Since you slept only 101 minutes, your time in desaturation was 0.4*101= 4 minutes. 0.4% of sleep time is 0.004 times the...

Re: Anyone else have issues sleeping on one side vs another?
I know that my untreated AHI is 2 on my right side and 10 on my left. I could see how you could have differences in other health issues sleeping right vs left side.

Re: Sleep Apnea and Low T for Men
.... I stopped after awhile not because I felt bad but more because I was sick of Drs. prescribing something and then having an unintentional side effect and then getting prescribed something else to counteract this. I had high cholesterol 333. Dr. put me on Statins. Oddly my test drops and I my li...

Re: Side Sleeping
I was very surprised, especially since left side is virtually equal to supine (back).svh wrote:That's really interesting (different sides making such a difference to your AHI)--I'd never have guessed which side would matter!

Re: Side Sleeping
The sleep study should have this information. Of course, you could have positional apnea. As Pugsy often says, it's common for our apnea to be worse when supine or in REM or both. Apnea differences can even different on one side vs the other. In a recent study, my untreated apnea when sleeping on m...

Re: Sleep Apnea and Low T for Men
Unlikely that trying to lose weight before getting tested for cpap will do anything for the apnea. The major problem with sleep apnea is that it is anatomical/genetic rather than "simple" obesity. Losing weight may help lower the AHI, but unless the apnea was marginal at the start it is probable yo...

Re: OT: I want some Whine with my cheese
I've only been in actual -40 temps once. it's FRIGGIN COLD! I could feel the moisture from my breath freezing in my nostrils. and I was wearing a t-shirt at the time. in july. in gulfport mississippi. bonus points to anybody who can guess how that happened. You were in a walk-in freezer, that was s...

Re: OT: I want some Whine with my cheese
I live in the state of Georgia. During the summer, we get temps like that along with high humidity. When my son was playing baseball in that kind of heat, we would add ammonia to cool water, then dip towels into it (wring them out) and place them on the backs of the kids necks. It's a great way to d...

I can't slog my way through 8 pages of testosterone talk, sorry...but if you have XM/Sirius satellite radio and can get the Dr. Harry Fisch show on Howard 101, (I THINK the show is Wed around 4pm Eastern?). He's a urologist on the east coast. He's talked a LOT about low T in men. First question he'...

Re: My first night
Mossytreesprite, I don't remember if you mentioned whether you tried taping your mouth at night? I heard it works pretty well thereby enabling a person to use the nasal pillows or nasal mask. Speaking from experience, chin straps work. I didn't like my chin strap so my wife gave me one of her elast...

Re: High AHI toward morning - am I the only one :)
My "daily driver" is a brick, so I don't have long term data, but I did do a 2 week in home titration study with an APAP, back in Sept. I had AHI increases from 4-6 AM. At first it had me a bit puzzled. After a little research, I discovered that my dogs getting restless during that time, is the like...

Re: Is it time to give up on CPAP?
The ambien was probably to give your subconscious a chance to get used to the mask, but it sounds like it needs a bit of extra help. You can try wearing your mask when you're awake, reading a book, watching TV etc. to help get used to wearing the mask without the stress-inducing effort to get to sl...

Re: Does External Noise Affect Sleep Study (PSG) Results
It would definitely impact the study, but I don't think it would severely impact your AHI. If the noise led to frequent arousals, then your sleep efficiency would be poorer, and it may make it difficult or impossible for you to make it into REM sleep that night. My best guess would be that you migh...
