Re: Here's an interesting question
Last year I was diagnosed with moderate to borderline severe sleep apnea. I've been on a CPAP machine for 13 months. I'm being told I'm now a very very heavy sleeper. I've slept through thunderstorms and even a lighting strike in my backyard. I've also noticed when I wake up, I have no memory of an...

Re: Even on CPAP, still need to sleep on side?
Thanks to everyone for the replies. I forgot to add one important detail in my opening post, even on the days I sleep on my back and and don't feel rested the next day, my AHI doesn't increase. It has remained consistently under 1 since I started CPAP therapy, whether I sleep on my back or side.

Re: Even on CPAP, still need to sleep on side?
Look at your data for the night you slept on your back and compare it to a night on your side. Maybe you need much more pressure and it is taking too long to get there or maybe the surge wakes you up. Thanks Spinner. I'll see if I can figure that out from the data. If it turns out that it's taking ...

Re: Even on CPAP, still need to sleep on side?
Why can't you sleep on your back since that is your most comfortable sleeping position? With optimal pressure settings the machine can adjust for any increase in obstructive apneas or higher pressure needs. I have a similar situation with my REM stage sleep pressure needs. I just let the machine do...

Even on CPAP, still need to sleep on side?
Hi all, I noticed since I've been on CPAP I still feel more rested the next day when I make a conscious effort to sleep on my side versus my back. But here's the weird part: On my side, my hands, shoulders, and hands start falling alseep and bothering me but I still feel better in the morning than w...

Re: Sleep Quality setting on S9
Version 9.5. I'm seeing graphs for event flags, flow rate, AHI, mask pressure, pressure, leak, and bunch more.Pugsy wrote:Which version of SleepyHead are you using and are you seeing AHI and various graphs or just AHI?
What do you have for detailed graph data?

Sleep Quality setting on S9
Hi all. Just noticed the "Sleep Quality" setting on my S9 was set to Usage instead of On. But I've been getting full data from SleepyHead. I thought if it was set to Usage instead of On I would be getting only compliance data. Am i wrong?? Is all my previous data on SleepyHead not valid? That would ...

mask setting on S9
Hi all. I've been using the Tap Pap mask for the past week and love it. My AHI has been below 1 every night I've used it. But I just noticed I had the mask setting on my S9 machine on "Full Face" instead of "Pillows". Would this affect the results I've been getting through SleepyHead or how effectiv...

Re: Apria
Will I be able to use the copy of the prescription at an alternative DME?(Original script went to Apria, who i dont want to use). Or will the doc have to write me a new prescription? Sorry for the dumb question.JDS74 wrote:Always get a copy of your prescription.

Re: Apria
My prescription went from the doc to the sleep lab, who sent it to Apria. If I decide to avoid Apria and find another local DME, should I ask the doc for the prescription, or do I first need to go to the sleep lab?

APAP settings
Hi all. Newbie here so please excuse the dumb question. My in-lab titration was a waste. Didn't sleep a wink. I have a appointment with the sleep specialist in a couple days and I'm going to try to convince him to not have me another do titration but to prescribe me an APAP machine instead. But sinc...

Re: didn't sleep during titration
My doctor wanted to do a titration study but I said no way. One time in a sleep lab was enough for me. She gave me a APAP and I did it at home and with the help of this site. To this day she is very impressed with my knowledge and lets me make the adjustments that I want and just follows up with th...

Re: didn't sleep during titration
I was diagnosed last month. Took 3 titration studies to diagnose me (can't wait for the bill for those). First night was horrible. Probes up the nose kept itching, then the CPAP made me feel like I was scuba diving. I slept maybe 2 hours tops. 2nd night was better but that's not saying much. I slep...

Re: didn't sleep during titration
Yeah I think I'm going to try this. Though I understand from reading here and elsewhere many docs are opposed to Apaps. Not sure why.Julie wrote:Fight for an Apap because it does Cpap as well, but the reverse is not true... plus you can titrate at home with the Apap.
