Anyone have problems with the pillows digging into his or her nasal mucosa? I was using the mediums and in retrospect they seem to be the best fit but they would really seem to dig in and leave me with irritation upon waking.
I switched to the larges and I think my leak went up. I can't win.

Re: Would you recommend purchasing CPAP without an Rx?
Would you recommend purchasing CPAP without an Rx? It is one of those things . . If you have to ask, the answer is clear . . . No, do not do it without an RX. However, IMO, under doctor supervision an at home sleep study can cost pretty close to nothing more than the rental of a little equipment fo...

Re: Resmed S9 Elite for sale
I did a second sleep study. He said the apnea was episodes were significantly decreased after the surgery. The doctor said It was up to me if I wanted to discontinue treatment. I'm sleeping better now. I don't wake up tired like I did before treatment. I haven's used the machine in over 9 months. W...

Re: High Central AI on Resmed sleep report
And yes, cpap use is supposed to improve sleep architecture. I didn't get much REM at all before cpap therapy. Every time I would slip into REM sleep stage my OSA events would come on fast and furious (53 per hour in REM compared to 12 per hour in non REM) and kick me right out of REM sleep...no wo...

Re: Resmed S9 Elite for sale
I'm confused.
So you underwent a second sleep study to confirm your OSA was secondary to a deviated septum?

Re: High Central AI on Resmed sleep report
I'm sorry I misread that it was off and I set it to 3.
In other words, I just invented my own setting for S9. Maybe I should apply for a patent?

Re: High Central AI on Resmed sleep report
Thank you for all your help Pugsy. So then CPAP can improve sleep architecture as well? I had a couple really good nights two weeks ago where I woke up feeling about as good as I've ever felt and the AHI was 4.5ish. Of course then I lurk here and see people achieving <1 AHIs. My perfectionist streak...

Re: High Central AI on Resmed sleep report
Okay I went to my PCP and retrieved the report. I was way off on a lot of the info. Moderate OSA with AHI of 23.6 events/hr Total apnea index 5.5/hr hypopnea index 18.1/hr I also have poor sleep architecture REM latency 226.0 minutes Sleep efficiency 69.5% sleep was severely fragmented 66 arousals a...

Re: High Central AI on Resmed sleep report
Pugsy, Honestly I can't remember these being on the study. I searched my file cabinet high and low for that report but everything is a mess right now. I'm getting ready to move up to Michigan here in 2 weeks. I didn't do any lab titration test. There wasn't even any follow up. My PCP is a family fri...

Re: High Central AI on Resmed sleep report
So as you can see my AHI crescendos at about 5am.
Not sure if it fully explains the clear AIs but this seems to correlate with what I'd just told you. I do have this tendency to wake up briefly and then fall back asleep 2-3 hours before I get out of bed...

Re: High Central AI on Resmed sleep report
Great. I installed sleepyhead, figured out where the SD card is on the S9 and where the SD card slot is on my macbook. I contacted the sleep center via email and hopefully I'll have it soon. I'm going to attempt to move the data to sleepyhead and take some screenshots. Hopefully I'll have them poste...

Whatever software you are using you can just grab a screen shot of the detailed report and post that screen shot image link in some place like Photobucket. Explained in this thread along with examples. Screen shot thread http://www.cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=81072&p=737779#p737779 My AHI tend...

Re: Denial. Why did you decide to try a CPAP?
I've always intuitively recognized I've had a problem with sleep. I can never recall waking up well rested. When I entered medical school I weighed 195lbs at 12% BF. I didn't snore and I certainly never had anyone tell my I stopped breathing during sleep. Along the way, by a combination of having my...
