Re: Progressive sleep apnea? Effect of Pressure on Cental Apneas
IMNMO (In My Non-Medical Opinion) INCREASE THE PRESSURE! Piggybacking on what pugsy said: In Complex Sleep Apnea (CompSA), the problem is that CPAP/APAP pressure causes the central apneas to happen . And increasing the CPAP/APAP pressure often INCREASES the problem rather than making it better. Tha...

Re: Progressive sleep apnea?
IMNMO (In My Non-Medical Opinion) INCREASE THE PRESSURE! 5-8cmH20 is pretty low. Is it not obvious that the immediate first step (which is simple to do but nobody makes any money on it, unlike endless "sleep studies") should be to see the effect of an increased pressure? It just seems like common s...

Re: Progressive sleep apnea? Pressure Too Low
Attached is last night. Last night was not a good night but is typical of what’s happening recently. http://i1060.photobucket.com/albums/t458/jar110/CPAPReading_5-13-2014_zps228f196d.jpg IMNMO (In My Non-Medical Opinion) INCREASE THE PRESSURE! 5-8cmH20 is pretty low. Re: Would you recommend purchasing CPAP without an Rx?
Would you recommend purchasing CPAP without an Rx? It is one of those things . . If you have to ask, the answer is clear . . . No, do not do it without an RX. However, IMO, under doctor supervision an at home sleep study can cost pretty close to nothing more than the rental of a little equipment fo...

Apria Healthcare Credit Card Dispute Charge
Should I be concerned that a google search for Apria Credit Card Dispute Charge produces about a quarter of a million hits? https://www.google.com/search?q=apria+credit+card+dispute+charge It seems like a lot of people and even the government are having problems with how Apria conducts business. And...

Re: Bad night last night
AHI of 3.7 is not so bad. Actually, less than 5 does not even meet the criteria for a sleep apnea diagnosis.Renee71 wrote:This morning I had a quick glance at my AHI and it said it was 3.7 that is the highest it has been since starting CPAP.

Thanks for the Encore info, Pugsy. Yes, thanks for the correction too. I have updated my profile. I have a Series 60 PRO (460P)

Re: Sleepmapper
Thanks for the feedback Pugsy. I'll stick with Encore Basic as you recommended. I have tried two sets of software. Sleepmapper and SleepyHead. IMO, Sleepmapper is a waste and conforms to what seems to be cpap manufacturers philosophies . . . . provide actual end-users as little info as possible. Sl...

Re: Who here is on Provigil?
Hello Went back to my sleep doctor for a follow up and as I was complaining about still feeling tired and needing naps, she put me on 200mg of Provigil (modafinila) to help with the sleepiness. I took the first dose today and I feel a great improvement in my energy level. I'm curious about other pe...

Re: Take a sleeping pill or not on test night?
I had a sleep study about a month ago. I never take sleeping pills. However, the doc (board certified in neurology and sleep medicine) that prescribed the study also prescribed a "sleeping pill" in case I needed it to fall asleep . . . which I did. I think it was a generic Ambien. He told me it woul...

Re: PR System One Resistance Control for Comfort or Therapy?
Pugsy, if I set mine to "0" would I be likely to notice any change in breathing effort or comfort, or would it possibly change efficacy of therapy in some way? I tried all the settings back when I got my first PR S1 machine...from resistance control set to 0 (off) up to 4 with my Swift FX nasal pil...

Re: Which PR System One REMstar Pro CPAP do I have?
You have the 460 model...the 60 part of the number means 60 series. The model number on the bottom of the blower until never lies. They didn't put "50" series on those machines either. It's just something we learn with the model numbers. 50 series machines came out in early 2010...the 60 series mac...

Which PR System One REMstar Pro CPAP do I have?
How can I tell which REMstar Pro CPAP I have? I just got it from my DME. I'm worried they may not have given me the latest model because it does not say 60 Series anywhere on the machine, nor in the manual nor in any of the DME paperwork. And, there appears to be several REMstar Pro CPAPs out there....

Re: PR System One Resistance Control for Comfort or Therapy?
Thanks for the info. My cpap came from the DME set at 1even though I'm using a Resmed mask. So now I'm setting it to 0. I wonder if the PR System One "Resistance Control" is the '+' part of Respironics' C-flex+. I also wonder if it is just a marketing gimmick feature to differentiate their product ....

PR System One Resistance Control for Comfort or Therapy?
Is there evidence that Philips Respironics System One "Resistance Control" reduces AHI or is it a comfort feature? I just got a new cpap after logging 30,000 hours on my last one. So, with all the newfangled bells and whistles and the ability to do my own sleep studies at home with my new machine, I...
