Re: Sleep Doctors. Any Success Stories?
My husband and I absolutely lucked out with both the doc and the DME. Both are quite aware that I know how to change my husband's BIPAP and my APAP, that I follow our data, and am VERY proactive in our care. And both have told me they wish more of their patients did the same! The doctor has pointed ...

Husband Snoring - Three Titrations - Really Happy Ending
I started here three months ago. I'm on straight CPAP, pressure of 6, no oroblems adjusting; very lucky girl. However, my husband's snoring and REM behavior disorder was sooo bad, more than 2 hours consecutive sleep was impossible. His original sleep study said mild apnea (different specialist), but...

Re: AHI doubled when I switched to auto?
Check your System One Resistance setting. It changes from 0 to 4 depending on your mask. Same thing happened to me when I was put on APAP from CPAP (we have the same machine). My mask is by Resmed so I matched it as closely as possible to one of the Respironics mask on the list below. http://www.med...

Re: My ACPAP took a huge jump in pressure
My machine has a System One Response setting that varies dependent upon type of mask. Even from pillow to pillow there is a change. Make sure your machine is calibrated (if it requires the setting) for your mask. When I received my new machine my AHI jumped from the usual 1-1/2 all the way up to 24!...

Re: Medication for Restless Legs Syndrome
I take pramipexole (generic Mirapex) 0.5 mg at 9 PM, and 0.25 during the early afternoon if I feel the RLS kicking in. I've had restless leg and arm syndrome so severely at times that I've fallen out if bed and been in tears from exhaustion. The more tired I get, the worse the RLS, and the worse the...

Re: AHI from 1.5 to 28
Without the AHI details before and after anything would be complete speculation. So ... on the SleepyHead and some data. One thing to check for in terms of differences is Ramp. Is that value different between the two machines? How about humidity settings? As Pugsy sometimes remarks, perhaps a short...

AHI from 1.5 to 28
I do not have the detailed breakdown on my AHI, but simply put, on straight CPAP pressure of 6 using Respironics 460 CPAP machine I consistently ranged from 0.8 to 2 for 10 weeks (same results on m titrationjP LPNLN". Switched to with Respironics 560 APAP using straight CPAP mode of 6 and first nigh...

Sleepyhead and Respironics Bluetooth Adaptor/AHI Jump
My DME changed my Respironics from a 460 CPAP with regular humidifier to an APAP 560 with heated humidifier tubing yesterday. For 2-1/2 months on the 460, my AHI averaged 1.5 per hour with the highest being one really bad, allergy driven night showing as 3.2. Since I'm on a straight CPAP pressure of...

Catlizg...How lucky is this man to have you looking out for him ! Well, I would say he's damn lucky to have gem such as I. Lol. Seriously, it cuts both ways. I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibro. So, we compensate for each other. I'm the "rememberer and detail person" and he's the "do'er and fixer...

Re: Did I luck out with a good DME?
Sounds like you did luck out with getting a DME that is decent. There are good ones out there...we just don't hear about them as often because happy people don't post nearly as often as unhappy people do. Pugsy, do we have a list anywhere noting the DMEs with which we've had good success? I know I ...

Excellent idea: a snake turtleneck. I thought about a baby giraffe - it could be camouflage protection, or an anteater's nose warmer. But, snake turtleneck is the absolute best.Nick Danger wrote:Get a pet snake and let it wear it?

Snoring Hubby: the saga continues to shocking results
I had posted about my husband's issues with REM Behavior Disorder and ear shattering levels of snoring. His physiatrist sent him for a sleep study with a very large neurology group with the report simply stating "mild apnea, treat if clinically indicated." While we were at my sleep disorder neurolog...

Did I luck out with a good DME?
I started my CPAP journey with the Respironics 460 Pro CPAP machine with regular humidifier. With a straight pressure of 6 and nasal pillows, I was happy with machine as it easily controlled my apnea from 35+ down to AHI of 0.5 to 1, and brought my O2 level from 78 to 97. Since my apnea is pretty st...
