Re: panic at pressure of 4?

I wasn't on therapy very long before I turned the ramp right off. I start the night at 13.

Re: Clogged Ears with Resmed Airesense 10

If you mean clogged ears, then, yes, that's common. Learn to equalize pressure using the valsalva maneuver and it will probably help.

Re: Do I have to used distilled water? newbee questions

My home water is pretty hard and I have to inject a soda-ash solution to neutralize the acidity if I don't want my pipes corroding. When I run out of distilled water, just one tank of tap water will leave a scaly mess at the bottom of my tank. Not worth it, especially when I can get a gallon of dist...

Re: Getting Caught Up (State of Machines Late 2016)

They highly recommend getting a backup CPAP machine especially if your current machine is more than a couple of years old. That way you'll never be without a CPAP machine, even when one of yours stops working. Well, that's exactly the point: by far the cheapest way for me to get a back up machine w...

Re: Getting Caught Up (State of Machines Late 2016)

Thanks, Pugsy. I think that's the way I'll go. One more question: we're not expecting any big releases from either in 2017, are we? Both should be pretty early in their release cycle at this point, right?

Re: Getting Caught Up (State of Machines Late 2016)

Thanks, Pugsy, that's just the information I needed. I thought that might be the case, just going by the prices on our host's site. So want either an Resmed Airsense P10 Auto or the PR Dreamstation Auto. Is there anything more to recommend one over the other now, or are they still about equivalent? ...

Getting Caught Up (State of Machines Late 2016)

So my annual deductibles have been met and it's now as cheap as it's ever going to be for me to replace my Resmed S9 Autoset. Since I've been away from the board for a while, I wanted to get caught up on what the state-of-the-art is with regard to APAP machines. I've been very happy with my current ...

Re: Ongoing Ear Problems Since Starting CPAP

p.s. I'm unfamiliar with 'sensorineural hearing loss". It sounds like it might be related to nerve pathways. i can't see how cpap could cause or make worse this sort of hearing loss, unless somehow the cochlea was involved--but that has nothing to do with eustachian tubes. I can't see how pressure ...

Re: Ongoing Ear Problems Since Starting CPAP

Has your ENT suggested any surgical options? I don't know if they do it for adults, but they will often implant tubes to keep the Eustachian tubes open in children in order to get rid of chronic ear infections. I mentioned that in my original post, and indeed my primary motivation for posting this ...

Re: Ongoing Ear Problems Since Starting CPAP

Do you get vertigo at all? What are your pressures settings on the machine? Sometimes vertigo accompanies my ear infections, but not always. My pressures are in my signature. I am not aware of tubes being offered for an adult. Tubes are used at any age for Eustachian tube disfunction. Such disfuncti...

Re: Irish anyone? Where do you get your distilled water?

I was finally able to find a solution in Dublin. Every pharmacy will carry or can order a 1 liter bottle of distilled water for EUR 17. Pretty expensive if you live here. Wow. I pay .69 USD for a gallon of distilled water at my local supermarket. If I need a quick supply without a trip to the super...

Re: Poll On Changes In Energy/Well Being After CPAP

I noticed a change the day after my split-night test; despite sleeping only fitfully with a leaky FFM for about five hours, I was more awake and alert than I had felt on waking in years. It was tough to have to wait over a week for a PAP machine of my own! From day one with my new machine I was slee...

Ongoing Ear Problems Since Starting CPAP

I was diagnosed with OSA about 18 months ago, and have 100% compliance since starting CPAP treatment (well, except for the one night I got less than four hours' sleep due to insomnia). My AHI has gone from 96 untreated to ~3.5 with treatment (about half of which is SWJ). I have more energy, think cl...

Re: Fisher & paykel forma mask

I found that it hurt my jaw and could not finish the night with it. Went back to my Quattro Air and shortly after ordered my P10 and never looked back. Of course YMMV.
