Re: Trazodone
Dr just subscribed this to help with fragmented sleep. Anyone have an experience with this? Hi tlewis, I have serious issues with fragmented sleep and was feeling really desperate for sleep when I arrived at my doctors office, a couple of weeks ago. I have a background in pharmacology and have a fa...

Re: Fragmented sleep---awakenings...HELP, please
If you are certain that you have it, you might want to take a look at the book, The magnesium solution for high blood pressure by Jay Cohen, MD. Even though fortunately, I turned out not to have high pressure, I found his book very interesting and learned more about magnesium than I had from any al...

Re: Fragmented sleep---awakenings...HELP, please
Pugsy, I have a very good friend that is a nurse and I've just had a long conversation with her. She seems to think I'm doing very well on CPAP and my problems are the result of another issue, as you have stated. I saw my doctor in June, one month after beginning CPAP. I was doing very well except ...

Re: Fragmented sleep---awakenings...HELP, please
For some lucky people cpap therapy does fix their blood pressure issues but it's just like everything else that comes with this therapy..there's that really big YMMV sticker. We read about other people who are lucky and kinda assume that we will have the same great results but life just doesn't wor...

Re: Fragmented sleep---awakenings...HELP, please
2nd UPDATE.... not good: I'm very disappointed.....I had a really rough night. I went to bed at my regular time and fell asleep, quickly. As I recall, I had two awakenings around 3AM and 5AM, exact same times as the night before however this time..... I did not fall back to sleep, quickly as the pr...

Re: Fragmented sleep---awakenings...HELP, please
UPDATE: First night on "CPAP mode".....DONE!! So far...so good! AHI 0.88 I had two awakenings and fell back to sleep, both times. I believe the second awakening was due to some mouth breathing and the graph confirms this. I do feel a little more rested but I'm not declaring success, yet....need to ...

Re: Fragmented sleep---awakenings...HELP, please
Thanks for all of your replies. I appreciate your comments and information. kteague ---all lab work is negative and limb movements have been ruled out. The only meds I take is blood pressure meds. I sometimes try 1mg of Melatonin but it only tends to help for a night or two. Pugsy ---thanks, I'm goi...

Fragmented sleep---awakenings...HELP, please
Good Morning to everyone. I know I haven’t posted in a while but I still read here on a daily basis. I appreciate all the info I have gained and really depend on it. I’m just past 3 months on CPAP and I’m having a problem with multiple awakenings each night and just don’t know what else to try. My P...

Re: Medication for Restless Legs Syndrome
Clonidine is a blood pressure medication, this is what my wife takes. I guess it can be used for other stuff. Yes, Clonidine is used for high blood pressure and also for anxiety & insomnia. I have high blood pressure, I take a beta blocker in the morning and clonidine (0.1mg), at night. Clonidine t...

Re: New to this site
It's criminal that some of the members are contradicting the doctor's prescription and telling you to use a nasal mask. No, it's not criminal!!! Everyone has a right to their opinion. I worked in a hospital setting for 17yrs and trust me on this, doctors make lots & lots of mistakes and wrong diagn...

Re: Husband....New to CPAP....help, please
Taz, You mentioned his size from the fit guide looks more medium than large. My hubby was initially fitted with a large & his first three masks were large - all leaked. When trying another mask, DME wrongly sent a medium. They then sent the large & I was going to return the medium. Well, day two of...

Re: Husband....New to CPAP....help, please
Taz, If hubby is still really restless and fighting the mask at times, I'd be willing to assume that those CAs are sleep/wake/junk (SWJ) breathing that's being scored as a CA, but may not even be a "real" event in the sense of what gets scored on a PSG First night's data: Almost all the CAs scored ...

Re: Husband....New to CPAP....help, please
Don't be too afraid of the word "central." Centrals may be harder to eliminate, but aren't necessarily more harmful. Zoom in on his graphs, see how long the centrals are, how completely he stops breathing, how close together they are, etc. If you stop breathing completely for 45 seconds, that's a l...

Re: Husband....New to CPAP....help, please
I have my grandson visiting for a couple of weeks so my time on the forum is hit or miss. When I see large blocks of not much of anything and then a block or 2 of a bunch of centrals especially around wake up times I have to wonder about the machine maybe picking up on awake/semi awake breathing ir...
