Re: Recently Diagnosed - Finding it difficult to sleep with CPAP
Hi, been recently diagnosed with sleep apnea, was given a resmed s9 cpap device, tried various different masks but have struggled to adpat to it. Has anyone else experienced difficulties in sleeping with their device and any advice on how to overcome this? I was diagnosed in 2009 so I don't remembe...

Re: Dry mouth
I have tried a full-face mask too and after a few days I had the same problem. My mouth's inner tissues felt like cement. I was given a chin strap but it is not so very comfortable. I was interested in reading all the responses here. I may get a firm collar to try next. always something!

Re: Hubby's Stroke (Update)
I have not been on the forum much this year. In February I shared that my husband had a massive stroke and my attention has been turned towards his care. I think I've aged 10 years In the last 6 months. He has been in 2 rehab facilities and 2 nursing homes. At this time, his PT feels that he will n...

Re: The mattress in your bed?
DH and I had a baffle filled water bed at first for years. then he wanted a Tem-a-pedic which I hated as too soft. Finally, Finally we got a Sleep number - I have my side set at 70 and his is set at 55. so no wonder I suffered. I also have one of the contured pillows with a dip in the middle. Before...

Re: Dreamwear: air out the top?
I have been using a PR Dreamwear for a few weeks now. Last night, I noticed there is a flow of air coming out on top near where the hose from the machine attaches. The air flow is coming from around where the plastic cylinder rotates freely inside the fitting, not where the hose goes over the cylin...

Re: New CPAP therapy not working right
I am supposed to be on a diet and eating 1400 calories. It is not a lot of calories! that said, I have been counting carbs too like a diabetic would. fruits unfortunately have many carbs and I did the same thing, switching to fruits to fill up. Nuts are good - low in carbs, and measure your portions...

I, too, wear my mask anytime I lie down - even when I nap.

you can hand sew a piece of fleece to make a tube and thread the hose thru it. Or get a thrift store sweater and cut off the sleeves and thread your hose thru. voila!

Re: A few questions for DreamMask users
I started out with a DreamMask, medium frame and small cushion. I am a side sleeper and I found that laying on my side was dislodging the cushion and causing leaks. This became a vicious cycle - the machine kept ramping up because of the leaks, which was making them worse. The pressure got up to 16...

Re: How do you try another mask? (while keeping the first)
Every so many weeks, I can get a new mask. At that time, I chose to get a Dreamwear mask instead of the Mist Mask I have. I didn't manage my time well and couldn't return it, but since my other mask was just fine, I continued to use it. now I have the Dreamwear and the mask that fits but pushes on m...

Re: is CPAP machine ok inside my checked bag?
What is the protocol for carrying it on a flight? Do you just put it on the conveyor belt for the x-ray machine with the rest of your luggage or do you give it directly to one of the attendants? If not instructed otherwise by TSA personnel, just put it on the conveyor as with your other carry on ba...

Re: Recommend a minimal nasal mask
I have tried the Dreamwear based on the positive reviews from this board. I loved the lightweight feel of the tubing, the connection to the hose on the top of my head was fine, Lying on my side seemed to dislodge the head gear, and seems to move the tubing from under my nose to the side or it gets b...

Re: is CPAP machine ok inside my checked bag?
I will be flying to Florida in the near future on Southwest Airlines. I will have enough space to stuff my CPAP machine in my checked luggage. I was wondering if anyone has done this and was it ok? I would like to carry less thru the TSA's check points and I will already have a cell phone and an iP...
