Re: third mask - new asv user
No they adjusted the humidity at the DME. I only get to adjust the hose heat I guess. I'm thinking I ought to be able to adjust anything I want since it's my body. I took a break from the whole thing and slept like a log. Tried it again last night as I was still super tired from the sleeping aid two...

Re: third mask - new asv user
Hi Pugsy, yes, the nasal mask was the least intrusive and I REALLY wanted it to work. As long as my mouth was closed I was comfortable but as soon as I started drifting mouth opened the teeniest bit it woke me. I then went to a hybrid and really like that in terms of the fit around my mouth, comfy, ...

Re: third mask - new asv user
Pugsy, you are so helpful and patient! I greatly appreciate it. Today I am super depressed (I'll get over it I'm sure) but feel like I'm some kind of time bomb waiting to explode. Thanks so much for the definitions and especially for the comment on the AHI. Yes, I'm awake most of the time I have the...

Re: third mask - new asv user
wow. I have no idea. Only what the doc said…it's rare. I'll have to ask when I see him next but that's not for a month since I only started trying to use this machine a couple weeks ago. He said idiopathic central. This mask also dries out my eyes though I can't feel any air going into my eyes. What...

Re: Herbal Treatments for Apnea
Uh, thanks for all the feedback. Sorry if it seemed a naive question. I was just diagnosed with Central and perhaps am in a bit of denial. I am struggling with these masks and am desperate to make this work and the reason I was asking is because I wanted to see if anyone knew it was a scam or if it ...

third mask - new asv user
Hi all. I went from the nasal (most comfortable but won't work with mouth breather), to a hybrid that gave me extreme congestion for three days and irritated my nostrils after using it a couple hours. I got a new mask guy this time and he actually measured my face. He also uses cpap so I felt like h...

Herbal Treatments for Apnea
Has anyone heard of or successfully used something called "Sleep Apnea Relief"? Its an herbal product consisting of Lobella (a reparatory stimulant), Meadowsweet, Thyme, Chamomile and Cramp Bark. There's a bunch of info on the internet so it's probably a money making scam but I'm desperate enough to...

Re: Sleepless in Seattle - New ASV User
thanks for the ideas. I have been washing it daily but think I might have it too tight. I'll try that tonight and if not, will try the tissue idea. OMG….this is such an overwhelming adjustment to my life. Someone else posted I will die if I don't figure it out. I hope they are wrong. I know it impac...

Re: Sleepless in Seattle - New ASV User
thanks. I am trying my hardest. Calling doc today to see if he can give something to help me fall asleep. Today I have a little rash around where the mask goes but I only had it on for two hours last night.

Re: Sleepless in Seattle - New ASV User
Hmmm. The oral device sounds like it could possibly work and I will ask about it if this hybrid one doesn't work (which I won't know til I actually fall asleep with it). I think last night I actually may have tried to fall asleep. I know at one point my cheeks did puff up as was mentioned in your li...

Re: Sleepless in Seattle - New ASV User
thanks JDS74. In fact, I do get claustrophobic so I might check into your mask (after I read your link! What is cpap conditioning training? I will ask the doc about this. whatever will give me a fighting chance I guess. thanks again,

Re: Sleepless in Seattle - New ASV user
Pugsy: thanks so much for all the info. I added the equipment (except I have no idea what the software is and will add ASV as soon as I figure out how to do the editing. Appreciate the info on the sleeping pills….will talk with doc soon. I did tell the DME (not sure what that stands for but assume i...

Re: Sleepless in Seattle - New ASV user
thanks for the replies. I have been leaving tv on and that is a little distraction that helps some but still can't fall asleep. (btw, the nose plugs thingies are called nasal pillows…I just didn't use the right terminology). I have always had sleep issues if anything is out of the norm; i.e., travel...

Sleepless in Seattle - New ASV User
I was recently diagnosed with complex sleep apnea. Am brand new so don't know much. Just got an asv machine and am on second mask. The guy tried all kinds and apparently none fit my face correctly. I couldn't use the nasal mask because I breathe through my mouth so now I have a mirage liberty that c...
