Re: So tired. Will someone look at my SleepyHead info?

I'm new to this myself - a little over 2 weeks - but I can tell you that I'm also experiencing a fairly gradual improvement in my alertness and energy. My head is undeniably clearer but I'm still sleepy frequently. I suspect that the apnea has been troubling me for a long time; I've always assumed i...

Re: sleepiness vs fatigue?

My problem has always been sleepiness and a lack of alertness - both of which have improved since I started using my CPAP. If you don't have this issue, it may be because your apnea is mild. Fatigue (a lack of physical energy as opposed to a tendency to doze off) can have many causes including apnea...

Humidifer & cleaning

A single fill-up of my humidifier's reservoir usually lasts me two nights - and there's even a small amount left when I get up on day 2. The manual would have me dump out the left over water each morning and clean the reservoir - but I tend to think every other day should be adequate. Dumping half a...

Re: My melodrama

Thanks @nanwilson - so I guess I'm doing great at 3 and under! Still a little concerned about my crazy Flow Limitation graph though. I have also added a chin strap and it's reduced my aerophagia considerably. On another note, my cats continue to be extremely wary of me while I wear the mask in bed...

Re: My melodrama

Okay, I'm at a bit over 2 weeks now. I'm doing pretty well at 9.4, sleeping well most nights with only a slightly extended interval before sleeping. It would have been hard to believe two weeks ago, but now the mask and its air flow DON'T command my full attention while it's running. Who'da thunk! M...

Re: hey yall

Great to hear that some folks have an easy time - congrats!

Out of curiosity, do you know what pressure level your machine is set to?

Breathe-Rite under mask. Helps me!

For years prior to getting my CPAP (which was one week ago today) I've worn Breathe-Rite nasal strips to bed. They always seemed to help some, but not enough. http://amzn.com/B002GU5YCG One night last week, on maybe the 3rd or 4th night with the CPAP, just by sheer force of habit I put a Breathe-Rit...

Re: Jedimark needs help with SleepyHead

Wow, sorry to hear about all your various health issues.

I use sleepyhead for Mac v0.9.2-2 (beta) and it's been terrific! Kudos on a great program. I've seen no significant bugs, though I've only been using it a week.

Hope you're able to get help with your various ailments. Take care.

Re: My melodrama

I've had the CPAP now for 8 nights. Been at 9 (down from 17) for 6 of those. Sleep has mostly been very good, and AHI low - but it's inching up. It was a remarkable 0.75 for my first night (at 9 pressure) but last night it was 3.22. Still - not too bad. Perhaps the most important development - the d...

Re: My melodrama

Very much. Now all I have to worry about is a my doctors having a snit-fit - but now I even have hard data to back up my actions.

Re: My melodrama

WOW. I just installed SleepyHead and imported my data. I have 3 nights worth on there. Night 1: Hours: 8:12 Pressure 17 AHI Peak: 40 (!!) AHI Average: 12.07 Note: I took a muscle relaxant to help me sleep (actually prescribed for occasional back spasms) Night 2: Hours: 4:18 Pressure 17 AHI Peak: 8 A...

Re: My melodrama

I was just going to say that this site could use a glossary of terms (AHI?) - but it looks like there's a good one here:

wiki/index.php/Category:CPAP_Definitions

I'll have to go and look up the AHI and get back to you.

Re: My melodrama

Well - I dialed down from 17 to 9 last night. Slept like a log!

This would seem to demonstrate that the sound was not a problem, nor the comfort of the mask, nor the presence of the hose.

I just wasn't able to deal with that much pressure.

So, tonight I'll try a 10 and see how that goes.

Re: My melodrama

I've updated my profile now - my equipment is there. I'll have to read up on the software everyone is using for tracking. As for my thoughts about the difficulty I had 10 years back (and on very rare occasions since) - I don't discount a respiratory component, but I believe the insomnia was caused p...
