Re: Resmed Mirage Activa LT
I currently use both cushions. I find the SoftGel has almost no large leaks but is a bit heavy. The Activa LT is more comfortable but develops large leaks during the night. Another thing the SoftGel has going for it is I get it in large-wide which is not an option with the Activa. It gives me a bit ...

Re: Strange call with DME
Have you tried lowering your humidity setting to see if it helps the congestion (often does)? Afraid that won't help. This is a lifelong problem & not related the the machine. Add a deviated septum to the mix & the problem was not unexpected. I am just hoping a FFM will make life a bit easier. Go t...

Re: Strange call with DME
In my opinion, it says that they were being very helpful to you. Many would not be that nice. G L Arnold I never implied they were not nice & after all they are charging for it in a round about way. I just had trouble understanding the Medicare rules that state they will pay for a different style m...

Strange call with DME
I have just past my 3 month period with my CPAP. I have been using a Resmed Mirage Soft Gel nasal mask with good results but I do have chronic nasal congestion. I wanted to try a FFM to see if it would work better when congested. I was elegebile for another mask, per Medicare, & my DME likes to send...

Re: Identifying REM
A big thank you to CapnLoki & Sir NoddinOff. You certainly present a starting point for me to look into. I didn't expect such a scholarly dissertation. Being retired I have lots of time on my hands to devote to checking your theories. I was hoping for a simpler solution but this will give me a new p...

Identifying REM
I'm interested in identifying periods of REM. Using Sleepyhead or ResScan which graph do I look at & what pattern should I see? At my last visit with sleep doc he was having problems identifying REM periods. He indicated the patterns he identified as REM sleep lasted too long. He found 2 periods but...

Re: Why don't they match
The S9 machines run for 30 to 45 minutes or so after you quit using them in the AM. Very low pressure that you may not even realize it is happening. This is supposedly to help dry out the hose or whatever. The low level pressure used minutes is counted in the run hours but not in the therapy hours ...

Why don't they match
I think this may qualify as a trivia question. I use ResScan & Sleepyhead daily to follow my progress. I don't usually check on the screens on my S9 because the sw is giving me everything I'm interested in. Today I happened to look at the unit itself & found a Used time of 511 hrs & a Run time of 59...

Re: Need help understanding
What I meant by lots was 9 on the first day & 6 on the second after I raised my pressure. Prior to that I only had 5 total in the preceding 4 weeks. They have settled down now & I've had one day with 2 otherwise 0. None of this is germaine to my original question. After being a systems analyst for o...

Re: Need help understanding
Thanks for the advice. At these numbers I am not too concerned. After the increase I did have 2 days with lots of centrals but they have since settled down. I am having increased nasal congestion the past few weeks so I do need to take that under consideration. Thanks for pointing me in this directi...

Need help understanding
For my first month on apap my settings were 12/5 EPR3 & my average API was 0.3 almost all OA. My Dr. had me change to 14/7 EPR3 & my average API is now 1.2, again almost all OA. I know from the manual that the S9 will not go below 4 so in effect my EPR has stayed the same. I would have thought the I...
