Re: New Z1 CPAP

I have used the MQ (Mirage Quattro) at a pressure of 16 cmH2O with exhale relief turned off and have never had a problem exhaling. The vent rate is pretty high on the MQ (45 lpm @ 14 cmH2O) so it shouldn't cause much restriction to exhalation. I don't think changing masks is going to help with your ...

Re: Equipment for sale

You want to sell a brick. Lets see, a brick costs about $2.00 so I'd be glad to give you that for it.

If you'll post a few pics of it along with the machine hours someone might want it for a backup machine.

Re: I have a question regarding “breathing” on CPAP

What is your pressure? The resistance you fell during exhale is natural and expected. The reason it feels normal after a while is that your body acclimates to the increased pressure. The machine isn't doing anything differently, it's your body that's adapting to the machine. It usually takes me abou...

Re: New Z1 CPAP

I don't see the Mirage Pro 4 on any of the cpap sites, but the "oval shaped diaphragm" should be the anti-asphyxiation valve and should be closed whenever the machine is on. The mask has a "vent" area that should blow air all the time. You haven't covered up the vent have you?

Re: If I like the Quattro Mirage, except the weigh would I like.

I have tried both the MQ (Mirage Quattro) and the Simplus (along with many others). The Simplus works better for me as it doesn't ride up on my face as badly as the MQ does during the night. My next trial will be the AirFit F10. I have high hopes for it and really like the way the headgear looks.

Re: Air Leaks

The Simplus is definitely wider at the apex than the MQ is. My problem wasn't with leaks at the 3 & 9 o'clock position. My problem with the MQ was that it would slide up on my face during the night and leak into my eyes. The Simplus doesn't have that problem nearly as bad. It also fits my face bette...

Re: Air Leaks

Finding the right mask is the hardest part of all of this endeavor. Like Teach said, use the sizing guide to make sure the mask is the right size and go from there. Like Old Dude, I have a closet full of masks that I've tried and one of them is the MQ. I'm now using the Simplus and still looking for...

Re: Where A CPAP Newbie Should Start

You came here at the right time. Read and learn as much as you can before your titration lab. The trick is to be prepared. I would go ahead and talk to the sleep doc and let them know that whatever the outcome you want a full efficacy data capable machine. That way, if you need less than a bi-level ...

Re: Sleepyhead Data Import Problem

That should work. I'd probably make a complete copy of the SD card first and then copy the data over on the existing card. Even if you erased the card, as soon as you put it back into the machine it would write the compliance data back to the card. The only thing you lose on Respironics devices is t...

I see that you have the MQ (Mirage Quattro). What size are you using?
What shape would you consider your face to be?

Re: Machine or man?

It's most likely mask leaks. How old is the cushion, headgear, etc.?

Re: Machine or man?

Looks to me like you're shutting the machine off every time the pressure goes up. Is that because the mask starts leaking? One thing I see is that all your apneas are centrals? I suppose that if the anti-asphyxia valve is getting stuck open it could cause the problem you describe but as long as the ...

Re: Frustrated

A few people have complained about the MQ (Mirage Quattro) doing a number on their nose. I have one of them and will tell you that it's pretty narrow at the apex of the nose section. It actually pinches off my nose some and I can't breathe through my nose with it on. Since I'm a mouth breather anywa...
