Re: Getting ready for first night... bipap set to 25/15

Well, the first night is done. I didn't sleep a lot... I know I was awake at 2AM and I got up at 7AM, plus I woke up a couple of times during the night. As with the lab titration, I have the subjective sense that sleep was a lot deeper than I remember ever having. Unfortunately, I don't have any obj...

Thanks, Pugsy. There is an SD card on the machine. I'll let you know about the software once I real computer set up.

Mint -- Good luck to you, too!

Getting ready for first night... bipap set to 25/15

Okay, I picked up my BiPAP machine today... the prescription is 25/15. Apparently I did well on that at some point during the titration study, but... 25 on the inhale seems a tad excessive. I got a Philips Respironics BiPAP Pro 660. I asked about the auto-set model, but apparently this is what the d...

Re: A couple of questions about starting on BiPAP

Speaking of software, I don't have an actual computer right now. I have a Chromebook, iPad and android, but no Windows or Mac O/S. It's my understanding that Philips units can provide at least some information through apps... is that true?

Re: A couple of questions about starting on BiPAP

Thanks for all the information. I don't know of any underlying conditions, and if one was discovered, I'm thinking it would be malpractice not to tell me about it. However, I recently discovered that my insurance records do list me as having mitral valve disorder and breathing disorder. That's not t...

A couple of questions about starting on BiPAP

Hi. I posted a few weeks ago that I'd had a titration study done. The DME finally called Friday afternoon and said the insurance company authorized a biPAP and I can get it on Tuesday. It was too late on Friday to call the doctor or my "health assistant" and I've been searching for information on th...

Re: Okay, I had my titration study plus Lincare as DME

Wow. Just wow. I'm amazed a the responses I've gotten... this is a great forum (and yes, I've read the mentioned blogs, too). Thank you all. In theory, I have very good insurance, or at least the company says so -- I work for Total World Media Domination, LLC -- so they're big on that kind of stuff ...

Okay, I had my titration study plus Lincare as DME

I did my titration study in the sleep lab Wednesday night. Unfortunately, I woke that morning with a sniffle that went away... but turned pretty ugly that evening as I went from warm to cold to warm to cold that evening. The tech said it would be better if I didn't have the sniffle, but we could go ...

Re: The home study test results are in...

Thanks for all the support and advice. I have been reading all I can... I had no idea sleep apnea could cause so much trouble. Other doctors have mentioned over the years that I might someday maybe want to check into a sleep study, but my current doctor is the one who said, "this is where we need to...

The home study test results are in...

Hi. I did a three night home study over the weekend and the results came in today: 87.5 events per hour. This is apparently not good. So, I'm scheduled for a titration study in the sleep lab tomorrow night because the lab couldn't fit me in tonight. While I'm still wishing I didn't have to do this, ...

Re: New -- home study tonight

I suppose the home study is okay. I haven't asked the doctor how we'll proceed if I do test positive Still, I'd have much rather gone to a clinic. My doctor mentioned that sometimes during a lab study, there will be enough evidence of apnea early on to interrupt the study and proceed with a CPAP tes...

Re: New -- home study tonight

It's a single finger sensor, a chest sensor worn around the chest and a breathing sensor between the nose and mouth. It's an Accusom from Novasom.

New -- home study tonight

Hi. Great forum. I've decided to go ahead with testing for sleep apnea, and I've learned a ton on this forum. I'm a 53 year old male. I've been suffering from a lot of the typical symptoms for years, and since I magically (so it seems) gained 100 pounds recently they've gotten a lot worse... I'm bey...
