Re: OT.....Elections matter...live with it
I didn't want either Hillary or DJT but I can't abide Trump's hateful rhetoric or scary ideas so I voted for Hillary. I do, however, respect the office of President, and I believe in giving him a chance to prove himself. He hasn't yet convinced me, but he deserves that chance. I'm not watching the i...

Re: I Hate When My Mask Falls Off Mid Sleep...
I've only used a full face mask, and had the same problem when I started. Even now, after almost 3 years, I find it happening once in a long while. I don't know why, maybe I get up to piddle, just pulling the tube off the mask and at some point before going back to bed my brain decides to take it of...

Re: Mild OSA now...going to oral appliance need advice
Well maybe I should just go shoot myself in the head then and give up? Geeeez come to a sleep apnea forum and ask about oral appliances and people come down on your like you are dog shit or something You asked for advice, and people gave it to you from their own perspectives. For many of us, the or...

Re: Newbie, but not a happy one
Every poster has offered some good remedies for you to try. I use a mask liner as well as strap pads from the padacheek site mentioned. She has mask liners too, but I make my own from old t-shirts as I am more comfortable with the fabric. There are other commercial liners available by googling and s...

Re: CPAP vs. UPPP for a young person
Where as CPAP may ensure I will be single my whole life. Yay. I am mostly joking but I would be lying if I said I wasn't taking my dating life into consideration. I know a number of married people with a spouse that uses CPAP... after 50 years, they haven't gotten divorced.... I really don't think ...

Re: Help with FF mask
When I started my cpap journey with a FF mask, the Quattro Air, it took me a while to get used to it, but a couple months in I was well acclimated. However, I did not like the strap around my forehead, merely put up with it. Later the Airfit F10 came out, and it doesn't have the forehead strap, but ...

[quote="avi123"]What's the Lt in front of your name stands for?
I assume Lt stands for Lieutenant, but you'll have to to wait until the OP comes back to give the definitive answer.

Re: Depression medicine: Mirtazapine ?
I do have some experience with Mirtazapine... my doctor prescribed it for me at 15mg several years prior to my OSA diagnosis as a sleep aid, although it is an antidepressant. 15mg turned out to be too much for me, it made me feel funny in some way. I don't remember the details(7.5mg). That was a bet...

Re: Physicans do not accept new Medicare patients
A 6 month wait for a new primary care patient is not uncommon in urban areas, I forget where you are located. I have BlueCross/BlueShield Cost Plus Plan (MN), which is essentially a Medicare Advantage Plan with RX. I will pay $164.50/month in 2017, with excellent coverage . Certainly some small clin...

Re: Sleep Apnea linked to low serotonin levels?
I haven't heard anything about this, but FWIW, I know several people who do rotating shift work and take melatonin when they are on night shift so they can sleep easier in the daytime. Melatonin, as I understand it, increases the serotonin levels in your body to make it easier to sleep. I occasional...

I always turn the machine off when I wake up in the night, if I'm also unplugging the hose. Leaving the machine on is OK, but Sleepyhead will register a large leak until the machine turns itself off. Your numbers and other reports in SH will look better and be more accurate without the unintended la...

Re: A big THANK YOU and a bit of an introduction
Congratulations! For the air that is escaping your mouth, you might try switching to a FF mask... it's what I have to use because my mouth just doesn't stay closed. I use the Airfit F10, and I like it better than others that I tried because it has no forehead strap.

Re: Monthly Data Download Charges
My machine has no modem, I've never been asked to take the SD card in. Twice in 2 1/2 years I've been asked to bring my machine in when I come for a mandatory check-in... to the sleep clinic. My DME has nothing to do with that reporting. They do take the machine away from me for a few minutes, and t...

Re: Need help-Cpap mask.got disconnected from its own tube.
Pale Rider is correct; the elbow just snaps on, you will need to find the right position (as in North, South East or West) so play around with it until you find the right position. If you can't find that position, take it to your DME and have them show you how to do it. The mask, cushion, elbow and ...
