Re: need mask advice
I also have BCBS for insurance. And while this insurance carrier has a number of different plans, my insurance also (only) covers a replacement facemask every 6 months. I haven't tried the FlexiFit432.... but I did try the FlexiFit431 earlier this week (very similar to the432). The FlexFit431 does e...

Re: Feedback from men with beards Re: best facemask
I just wanted to update this thread that I started last week. After having a lot of problems with leakage (with my facemask), I tried several facemasks....to include the FlexiFit431 (similar to the 432). I was not impressed. For me, it's too wide. I don't care for the headgear either as the clip is ...

Re: Feedback from men with beards Re: best facemask
Just keep trying different masks until you get one that works. Everyone and every fit is different. My beard is presently about 3-4 inches long with no problems using Quattro Air. I wouldn't be ready to shave my beard if I were you. I'm sure you will find a solution. That's impressive that your bea...

Re: Feedback from men with beards Re: best facemask
I've now tried the Quattro FX and Quattro Air (in addition to my Mirage Quattro). Out of these three, the Mirage Quattro seems to be the most tolerant of my beard in terms of reducing the level of leakage. But even the Mirage Quattro is not really working for me. And I cannot keep continually adding...

Re: Feedback from men with beards Re: Simplus by Fisher Paykel
It looks like there are eight or nine full face masks (on this site) that are designed for men (with facial hair in mind). Several got my attention including the SleepWeaver Anew FFM, Amara FFM, and the Flexifit HC432 FFM. Clearly, the Simplus by Fisher Paykel is not recommended for guys with beards...

Yes, I certainly will. I need to decide quickly because the leakage problem is affecting my sleep.neallo wrote:Could you let me know through pm or this post what you and sleep med come up with maybe this will help me in my experiences.

Re: Almost 2 glorious years, then suddenly "dry mouth"
If you have heated tubing with a humidifier, have the settings recently been changed (intentional or unintentional)? Has your system developed any leaks recently? If you use a humidifier, is your CPAP still using the same amount of water (before and after) the dry mouth? Any climate change in your h...

Re: How many hours a night do you sleep poll
When I factor in the number of times I wake up (and the time it takes me to get back to sleep), 6 hours a night is probably about the best I can get. I have to get up and go to work so I don't have the luxury of staying in bed past a certain time. I am trying to improve the total number of hours of ...

Re: Resmed Masks...
As another poster stated, everyone has their preferences. However, I recently tried to Quattro Air; and I am getting ready to return it. I don't like the fact that it has posts (versus clips) to secure the mask in front. Also, in my particular case, this mask is even less effective than the Mirage Q...

Re: Feedback from men with beards Re: Simplus by Fisher Paykel
Thanks for the reply Neallo. Glad to hear your goatee is not creating a problem. My facial hair was not initially creating leakage. But as it has filled in (since November), it is now an issue that I must resolve by either shaving it off or finding an alternative mask. My goatee is roughly 3/8 inche...

Re: Just curious what percentage of osa patients are overweight
I am about 25 pounds over weight. However, when I was first diagnosed with severe sleep apnea (sleep study) going on 1 1/2 years ago, I was only over weight by about 10 pounds. I intend to get the weight off this year for lots of health reasons. However, I am convinced that being overweight is not a...

Re: Feedback from men with beards Re: Simplus by Fisher Paykel
Thanks for the quick feedback. Perhaps you may have saved me from making the wrong decision. Maybe a better title for my thread would have been 'Best facemask for men with beards'. From the link you shared, it looks like there are 9 models that are recommended. Interestingly enough, it looks like pr...

Feedback from men with beards Re: best facemask
I am trying to revive an old thread (from last year) about the Simplus (facemask) by Fisher Paykel. I am very interested in getting feedback from men (with beards) who have used this particular model. As many of us know, having a beard can create a lot of problems with leakage. However, this particu...
