Re: Which Mask Does Your Partner Like?
This is funny to me because I just started with cpap a week and a half ago. My hubby told me one day I can't sleep well anymore because I am so cold. I just cant seem to get warm. He couldn't figure out why. I laughed because I realized it was my exhaust blowing on him all night that made him cold.

Re: My first FFM (amara)
I tried out the new gel cushion last night and then again today for a short nap. I like it way better than the silicone. I thought it was very comfortable. No marks on my nose either. It's also the first time in years I slept all night with out getting up at least once. You may want to give it a try.

Re: Autism and maternal apnea
Wow I never even considered this. My son has Aspergers (mild autism) and I have OSA. I believe I've had it since childhood or teenage years. He was my first child. Both pregnancies were hard. I threw up constantly and bled off and on throughout. I wasn't overweight when I had my children so that was...

Re: PLease take this poll, Do you CPAP during the day?
I do use it for naps. I don't take a nap everyday like I did before cpap but I still sometimes take a little nap. I am 100% compliant so far. I have never slept without it since receiving it but I still feel pretty tired on some days. I've only been on it for a week so I am probably still adjusting.

Re: My first FFM (amara)
I agree. The only way I can get the amara to work is to tighten it pretty tight. I know this is not ideal but it leaks otherwise. I just have to protect my nose Just got the gel cushion today. Hopefully it will work better.

Re: Waking up with puffy eyes
This is interesting. I had the opposite happen. I had bags under my eyes for months if not years. My hubby said they were getting worse of late. Then I started cpap a week ago and they are now almost gone. It's interesting how different people have different experiences. I hope you find the answer t...

Re: Why do you use CPAP?
I use cpap so that I won't die from OSA. I know I'll die sometime but it won't be from OSA if I can help it. I also would love to be able to drive without falling asleep. That's another way that this disease could kill me. I just don't want to go out that way or worse take anyone else out with me. I...

Re: How to tell my new girlfriend of my CPAP
As a woman I can say that this would never have bothered me. Not even when I was really young (33 now). If you care for someone you would much prefer for them to have life saving treatment vs. losing them to death. Besides, it is only on during sleep. Why would a woman care what you looked like whil...

Re: How do I condition myself to use the CPAP machine?
It sounds like you might benefit from the cflex feature that some machines have. It makes the pressure lessen when you exhale so you don't feel like you cant breathe. If it weren't for this feature I don't think I could tolerate it as well.

Re: My first FFM (amara)
Be careful not to tighten to tight on your nose. I have this mask and it's tearing my nose up. A man that works at the DME said he had the same problem with this mask. I have the silicone mouthpiece but apparently you can get a gel one. The DME is ordering the gel mask but until then they gave me a ...

Re: sleep apnea causing fibromyalgia?
I was diagnosed with FM about 3 years ago and have been on Cymbalta to help with the pain. It helped but didn't get rid of it completely. I just started CPAP last Friday. Two days in I noticed I no longer had pain in my neck. This tells me that there could definitely be a connection between MY fibro...

Re: Mad Farting
That is really the only negative I have found with the cpap so far, but I too have this problem. I did try extending my neck while sleeping like I heard someone on here suggest. I tipped my head back to open my airway like when you do CPR on someone. I woke up this morning with hardly any gas but th...
