Re: Kinda Silly Question

I can't say. I started CPAP on 01.08.14 and have yet to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. What a change. I think I would just turn off the machine and take off the nasal pillow mask that I use if I did get up. When going back to bed I would put the mask back on and turn on the...

Re: First night under 1 !!!

How do I feel? I feel GREAT. From the first night on CPAP during my titration study I knew this was going to be a good thing. Haven't felt this good in quite a while. I am a success story from day one. Look forward to hooking up each night knowing what it is doing for me.

Re: Decrease in AHI does not mean Decrease in nighttime awakenin

I am 26 days into CPAP and I knowingly wake up 2-4 times a night for just a bit and go right back to sleep. But when sleeping, the quality of sleep is so much better. Dream like crazy. I am one who saw immediate results. What a difference!!! Since starting CPAP I have not had to get up, even once, t...

Re: I panicked.

Three weeks into this. My first night I had the same issue. I woke up feeling like I was suffocating and took the maske off. I kind of laughed about it once I came to. Put the mask back on and was good the remainder of the night. Have not had any issues since then. I found it took me a couple days t...

Re: Looking for a new mask. Any suggestions?

I just tried the Sleepweaver Advance for the first time last night. LinkC generously sent it to me free of charge. I must say, the first night was impressive. I really like it. Air diffusion is much better than my Swift FX. I don't think it is the newer model with the improved seal but had relativel...

Re: What does "CA" Clear airway apnea mean?

For whatever reason, I found my CA events went way up when in the CFLEX+ or AFLEX mode on my Respironics. I am back to CPAP with just a relief of 1. CA's are few and far between now. I planned to stay with this setting a few more days then go back to CFLEX+ just to see if it repeats. I see you have ...

Good old redneck ingenuity - duct tape. That is the Red Green way.
No, couldn't resist. Probably what I would do but I am sure more experienced folks will chime in. I've only been at this three weeks.

Re: Higher AHI with CFLEX+ - maybe

Not an expert on the Resmed but based on decription of EPR I would say yes it is the same thing. It is a pressure relief during exhalation. Night three of the change and I have stayed at 3 or below.

I am sure someone will have more info but I do remember seeing a setting in Sleepyhead for the time offset. I assume that is what it is used for.

Higher AHI with CFLEX+ - maybe

About two weeks into CPAP using a pressure of 8. When the machine was set up the FLEX was not turned on and my AHI was 2-3 for the first three days. I started playing with the FLEX and went to CFLEX+ and AFLEX with a constant pressure of 8. Various relief numbers. I did this for about a week and my ...

Re: raw nose/nostrils

I am two weeks into CPAP right now. Using the nasal pillows. One nostril "nare" got a little sore to touch about a week into it but nothing unbearable. It did crust over and has just cleared up. I found that I started with the mask too tight. I kept losening it up and I am surprised at how loose I c...

Re: Colonoscopy and sleep apnea

Had my colonoscopy a couple months ago. During my yealry visit to PCP I had her scheduled that and my sleep study. Colonoscopy came first at the hospital. No issues. Late found out during sleep study that I had severe apnea. One thing about colonoscopy is you are on your side so that may help some.

Re: Semi OT When Patients Know More

Can't say if I know more than my sleep doctor. I have never met him nor talked to him. All I know is he read my study ( I assume), told my PCP to write a script for 8 and don't forget to send along the payment.
