Got a new mask yesterday, have some questions.

I've been using a CPAP machine for a little over a year and have been doing fine for the most part. My insurance plan covers absolutely nothing after the initial purchase of the CPAP machine, so I've been trying to stretch my supplies as long as they can go. I figured after a year, it was time to ma...

Re: 2014 policy on flying with distilled water?

What about my other accessories? Should I check those instead of carry on? I'll leave my mask and tube in the carry-on, but I have a surge protector that is in my CPAP bag, as well as this thing (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0034CHMRU). I think maybe I should try and check as much as I can as I don't w...

2014 policy on flying with distilled water?

I've been searching around and I can't really find a current, up-to-date policy on flying with distilled water. I'm going to Vegas soon for 4 nights and won't have a car, nor do I know if there will be a grocery store near my hotel on the strip (I doubt it), so I want to travel with my distilled wat...

Swift FX Nano strap coming undone

The past few nights the right strap on my Swift FX Nano has been coming undone. It is the silicony/gel/plasticy part that connects the strap to the nosepiece. It latches on very loosely now, to the point that any sort of minor tug or pull makes it come undone, and it isn't easy to put back, especial...

need help identifying a part (Swift FX Nano)

I have the Swift FX Nano and have found it to be an annoyance to remove from the main hose when I pack up my CPAP machine when I travel. Often times the swivel piece disconnects from base which is mounted inside the end of the hose, so then I am left with a little knub of a piece to try and pull out...

All the puresleep did for me was mess up my jaw. I couldn't take it for more than a couple days.

Re: How often have you been required to get sleep study

I don't understand why someone would need a sleep study after using a CPAP machine that records data? Can't the doctor just look at the recent results and decide if pressure needs to be increased or lowered, and make the necessary adjustments that way? It doesn't seem like rocket science to me, and ...

Re: PR System One randomly not recording sleep data for night?

Use the software to check your usage for final say. It sounds like you are looking on the machine's LCD screen for the hours and sometimes it just doesn't get updated or you check before it does the updating. But the machine will write the data to the SD card and you can verify by using the softwar...

PR System One randomly not recording sleep data for night?

I've been using my CPAP machine every night for over 3 weeks now since I got it (see date in signature), and there has been 3 or 4 nights where I go to look in the morning and it has 0's for that night's data. Therapy time, last night's days > 4, last night's AHI, everything! Normally I would not ca...

HoseBuddy rotation needs more resistance

I got a HoseBuddy because I don't have a headboard and couldn't stand fighting with the tube all night because it was pulling from the side of the bed. The HoseBuddy has made all that better which is great. I even keep my mask hooked onto the HoseBuddy during the day as it gives me somewhere to put ...

Re: raw nose/nostrils

Now that you mention it, I did tighten the straps a couple days ago, maybe they are too tight. I certainly don't feel like I have a squished piggy face with the mask on, but it seemed to be working just fine when it was looser. I'll loosen it up and see if that helps. Also thanks for the tip on lano...

raw nose/nostrils

I've been sleeping for over a week now with my CPAP machine and nasal pillow mask, and it is getting easier, however the last couple days my nostrils have become very raw and sore to touch. The DME lady that called to see how I was doing says that the skin around where the nasal pillows go is very s...

Re: made it through 2 nights so far

Thanks for the comments so far. Regarding humidity selection and amount of water used....Don't worry about amount of water used as it will vary depending on amount of ambient humidity in the bedroom. Some nights you will likely use all the water and some nights you might not use any water...all depe...

made it through 2 nights so far

I have obstructive sleep apnea and I got my equipment (listed in signature) 2 days ago. Since I was miserable during my sleep study and never entered REM sleep, they prescribed me automatic pressure that goes between 6 and 12. Part of the reason I was miserable was all the stuff they have you hooked...

joining the club

I just got home from the ENT doctor and after my sleep study a couple weeks ago, I've been told I officially have sleep apnea. This was all brought on by snoring and getting tired of being nudged and woken up by my wife to tell me I was snoring. I always felt like I get a good night's sleep and slep...
