Re: The plot thickens: Narcolepsy?
There are some people on here diagnosed with narcolepsy so if it turns out to be your diagnosis, I'm sure they'll drop in on the conversation. While you are waiting for that testing, you might want to use this time to be sure you've ruled out other contributors. Some questions to ask yourself and/o...

The plot thickens: Narcolepsy?
Saw my sleep doctor yesterday. My numbers are good, I'm sleeping 7.5 - 8 hours a night. But I'm still exhausted. He asked me some questions and decided to have me checked for narcolepsy. Which at first seemed bizarre, but once I did some reading on it, it might actually make sense. So that test is g...

Re: Could overbite make apnea worse?
I was thinking about using it in addition to the machine, not in place of it. Has anyone tried that?

Could overbite make apnea worse?
I was wondering about this...I have an overbite and was wondering if it is contributing to my sleep apnea? I bet it is, actually, because when I push forward my bottom jaw so that it lines up with my top teeth I can feel the airway opening up more. Has anyone else dealt with this? Can orthodontics h...

Re: Finally getting bi-pap -- anything I should know?
Well after four days I don't feel much different. I started taping again because I was being woken up by dry mouth. The bi-pap machine is more comfortable though. I went ahead and put a 10 minute ramp on, and now find it very comfortable to breathe with and go to sleep with. I feel like the first ha...

Re: Finally getting bi-pap -- anything I should know?
The length of time wasn't insurance related, it was DME being slow and useless related. I do have the VPAP auto. It is set to automatically adjust. I will have to double check the pressures. If I wake up exhausted tomorrow I will post graphs (which I will then ask for help with because I still haven...

Re: Finally getting bi-pap -- anything I should know?
Thanks guys. My first night was ok...I should have used the ramp, as suggested. It was hard to get comfortable falling asleep and I think I woke quite a bit in the night. I feel awful today. I'm hoping this is just a transition period and I'll start feeling better soon. (Tho I must admit, I was sort...

Finally getting bi-pap -- anything I should know?
FINALLY, 3 months after my doctor prescribed it, my DME has a bi-pap machine for me which I am off to pick up in just a couple minutes. I'm super nervous about it working well and finally feeling better during the day. (Please please please work bi-pap)! Is there anything that would be helpful to kn...

Re: FSA a way to get around DME?
Red is right...I can ENROLL in October but won't be able to use the FSA until Jan 2015. I didn't just start the job, I was just never interested in an FSA before now. I did call the doctor again yesterday and got someone on the phone who looked at their records and said "Hmm....you're right, we sent...

Re: FSA a way to get around DME?
Thanks everyone. I have never had an FSA before so I didn't know how they work. I did get in touch with my HR department and I can't even enroll in our FSA till October. I did call the doctor yesterday and left a message for the equipment specialist they have there and then left a message on the gen...

Re: FSA a way to get around DME?
I'm inquiring about the FSA from my employer, although I worry I'll have to wait for the enrollment period before I can get set up, which might be next year.
I hope I can get this resolved though so I can fire Apria. I can't believe how awful working with them has been.

FSA a way to get around DME?
Hi folks, My DME is killing me -- possibly literally. My doctor's office ordered me a new mask months ago. I never got it. I asked them to request a new nose pillow and filters. They sent me a new hose instead. My doctor perscribed me a bipap machine. I got a call two weeks ago from Apria saying the...

Re: Woken by dry mouth
So I turned the humidity down to 70. I also made a discovery one night that was a total "Ah Duh!" moment (half ah hah moment and half no duh moment). I could breathe through my tape! When I first read about the taping, I wanted something gentle so I bought paper tape (like they put on you after draw...
